I would love to see a diy-ish tube preamp. Something along the lines of the dac stuff that you put together. I realize most of these unit have volume and tone controls, but i really don't need all that and just want a pure preamp.

I purchased a Fosi Audio X2 phone amplifier. It is ok, maybe better than what comes in Audio Technica turntables. Hard to say. My home made phone stage using zhili audio Ear 834 clone pcb kit sounds amazing. With the right recording, more dynamics than with streaming. David Brubeck, Time Out LP on the analogue productions label sounds life like. Better than streamed. Only a few lps that I own do that.
