This agreeable mid-April afternoon, I walked in downtown Chicago, mostly along Dearborn Street, starting on Erie Street and ending on Polk Street facing Dearborn Station. Along my walking route, a lot of delightful city elements could be seen: diverse architecture, abstract sculptures, and blossoming flowers and trees.
Old buildings and modern ones together embodied Chicago’s eminence in architecture. Besides, from along Dearborn Street, many other great buildings of Chicago were visible, including numerous skyscrapers seen from the Dearborn Street Bridge of Chicago River.
Two iconic abstract works of public art-Picasso’s sculpture and Flamingo-were on my route. They have been existing for around half a century and they still look avant-garde.
Some trees were still bare, while others green or blossoming. Delightful tulips were in silent bloom at Chase Tower.
