Just wanna say thank you for these videos! I have been planning to relocate here from Kentucky for a couple of months and after signing my lease have been packing for the permanent move, so these have been a godsend to getting to know the area before actually staying for good. Please keep up the great work!

Yes, the Prohibition Bar atop the Foshay Tower is terrific! Best Sazerac cocktail I've ever had. :) @52:22 BANK is the restaurant in the Art Deco Westin Hotel, which explains the sign.

I used to work downtown in 2018. It is crazy how few people are down there now in the middle of a weekday. The sidewalks used to be a way more crowded and food trucks used to line the streets during lunch hours. It looks like a weekend. Bummer for the businesses.

Yeah, bummer for business, the people, and the city. Interested to see what city leaders have in mind to get people and business back on the streets

The Voya Building was never a library. It was built for the Northwestern National Life Insurance Company and was designed by Minoru Yamasaki - the same architect who later designed the original World Trade Center towers in NYC. Nicollet Mall is basically now an office park, which is why there is not much foot traffic these days. Most of the retail and foot traffic has migrated to the historic North Loop, which is the area behind the Whole Foods shown at the beginning of the video. Nice walkabout!

If you do it right and have the right mindset, Minnesota will be the best place you'll ever live. I lived there some time ago. Looking back, it was by far the best years of my life. So much to do and so much opportunity. I wish I never left the state. I wish you the best

Another great video! I visited the IDS Building and ate at the restaurant that Mary Tyler Moore ate at in one of the openings of her show! It used to be Basil’s now The Jolliet House located in The Marquette Hotel!

WCCO TV building looks abandoned! I think it still there, however! No use to no cars around the building and the blackout glass windows and doors.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that most of the street level tenants on Hennepin and Nicollet have their windows closed to the streets now

Im from New York City and Im not used to seeing a major downtown area with no people. What the hell happened to everyone 😮.. The other post mentioned cleanliness like 3 times. Well of course its clean. There is no one to litter!

Right?!! I feel like it’s improved since this video but it is weird. For better or worse, Minneapolis and Saint Paul were hit very hard by remote work and have been slow to recover. Our downtowns are great during events and performances but the day to day foot traffic has slowed significantly. Minneapolis also has a skyway system which pulls a lot of foot traffic off of the street and into the corridors above

@@walkingminnesota I was being slightly sarcastic as I've been to the twin cities and went to the science museum in downtown St Paul in the dead of winter years ago and loved it. I also went to the Mall of America. My friend there was from Apple Valley. Covid has done lots to clear out downtown areas around the country as folks discovered they like working from home rather than having to commute.

Ok, I don’t know if this guy wanted to show his city as being one in a long line of half vacant cities but he did. On top of that talk about boring buildings. Just lego boxes for the most part. A few nice tartarian style buildings in the older part. Take note of all the ambulances…they seem to escape all the walkers. FYI until recently it wasn’t normal for a downtown core to have ambulances just driving around waiting for the next victim…even on Friday nights. The streets looked pretty darn clean but then there was a distinct lack of foot traffic especially inside buildings he walked into. Looks like they cleaned up after the riots a few years ago…unless it happened in other areas he didn’t go to. Curious about that Canadian RBC building and that it just opened? Wonder if it is occupied? So many empty office buildings is easy to see as there are not the people on the streets to support that. They have cleverly disguised this better than other cities though by keeping it clean and devoid of the bent people, their drugs, garbage and tents that plague other cities. Must have moved them to another area. The church and target building were nice but can’t say much for the rest. Even street art installations were boring and lacked imagination. It was, at least, cleaner than most but it’s easier to keep clean when hardly any people are there.
