There’s only 1 rule to being vegan. Don’t exploit animals . Why is that hard? When you teach people to respect all life from humans to chickens and they actually live by that , racism and hatred would no longer be a thing .

It's a lot more complicated than that. Even if people respected all forms of life we still live in a society that is set up to be systematically racist. Also, I think when we use words like "rule" we are less effective than just living in a way that works for us and allowing people to ask questions if they are interested our practices. I appreciate the watch and comment and hope we get to a place we don't exploit humans first.

@@youngblackandvegan we shouldn’t do either. Can’t we support both ideas at the same time instead of Placing one at a higher rank than the other. Saying I’m not going to focus on animal exploitation, because there is human exploitation seems like a copout that’s like saying let’s not focus on the homeless because there are people starving or let’s not focus on women’s rights because of gay rights. Do you see what I’m saying?

@teegee5231 I see what you're saying, and what you are saying is coming from a place of privilege that you and people that look like you have been able to enjoy and profit from. When there is a disregard for black life, Black bodies that is in the grain of society then no I cannot place animals on equal standing in the fight for rights. When my people are safe and there is justice for taking a black life then I can talk about animals. When I see the same compassion for black life that I see for animals then we can talk. Until then I advocate for the saving of black people. That does not mean I hate animals, but there is no way I will place them at the top of my list of priorities when my people are being slaughtered in mass because of the color of their skin.

@@youngblackandvegan I understand where you’re coming from and i can agree that people shouldn’t disregard black lives . Let me ask you this , what if I was black , and was using an anonymous photo or a black person agreed with me? Would your counter argument be the same. What does my race have to do with it . Would it be from a place of privilege then , by that i assume you mean white . As a vegan I don’t support slaughtering anyone or anything and would like to think most vegans would agree. Its not about placing animals over humans . Its just recognizing when it comes to pain and suffering we mostly feel it the same . So we are alike where it counts the most . Like you said people are being slaughtered. I wouldn’t want to perpetuate on any living thing the same hatred that was inflicted on me. We need to stop all forms of hatred and violence and eliminate that type of oppressive mindset altogether. I don’t think you hate animals. Im just saying the case of “vegan” dieters , why do they make it seem so hard to give up the rest. It doesn’t mean you hate animals but you are supporting their exploitation. How is that a positive? A lot of plant based dieters not vegans , seem to still center around peace and non violence but for some their is a disconnect when it comes to certain products they use . Its hypocritical to a degree.

@@teegee5231 So to the first part of your question, yes my argument would be the same. I will advocate for the preservation of life of black people before animals. My question is, you ask why can't they be equally important, I ask are you equally fighting for saving black lives like you are for animals? You don't have to answer, something to think about. It will be great if all forms of hatred and violence went away, but understand that hatred and violence is projected on you from day one if you are black. To be human is to be hypocritical. We At the end of the day everybody is doing what works for them, we don't typically change anyone through judgement. Love also includes grace. When we take the time to focus on ourselves and being the best us we can be, that leaves zero time to tell someone else how they "should" live or that they "should" do something a certain way. Living in such a binary state doesn't serve us or the whole. If you and others that look like you, yes I mean white, advocated for black preservation the way you're having this dialogue about animals with me, then we can make some progress my friend.

In the past I was vegan and stopped alcohol. I had so much energy. I don’t know how to explain the energy. I started back Jan 3rd. 90% raw fruits and veggies. No drinking. I know in a month or so, I will feel better

Since when is being serious about veganism a problem? The reason she is ''plant based' is because veganism has existed for centuries and more particularly in the modern era since the first vegan society was created in 1944 in the UK. The rise of the term 'plant based' was used by those who have a unique focus on human health rather than seeing human health as a benefit of eshewing eating animals and animal products. The rest of veganism such as not wearing animal parts or buying products tested with horrible cruelty can then be ignored. Caring for animals is as simple as abstaining from practices that harm, kill and exploit them and sadly, this includes honey bees. This is not about rules but about a deep heartfelt feeling of connection to other beings and a recognition that they too wish to live out their lives free from harm, just as we do.
