Dr. Richard Jacoby Part 2
Thank you for joining us for the second half of our conversation with Dr. Jacoby. In part one of the podcast, we uncovered his early interest in regenerative medicine, his blooming career, and where his interests, experience, and scientific research have led him today. As a best-selling author, he continues to share his knowledge with medical practitioners, patients, and interested individuals concerning holistic approaches to healthy living. In this segment, we continue to explore the topics of nutrition, stem-cell research, and the ongoing pushback against Big Pharma and toward holistic treatment options.
The Fight for Holistic Treatment
Holistic treatment options are not a new fad. Holistic medicines have been used throughout history across a variety of cultures. Still, what is a new concept in the grand scheme of things is the misguided belief that chemically-derived medications are the best treatment options for a variety of physical and mental health conditions. We have been bombarded with the assumption from medical professionals and members of Big Pharma that the best solution for most issues is a prescription medication.
We often blindly trust the advice of medical professionals, forgetting that Big Pharma is a trillion-dollar industry that will continue to promote manufactured medications even if natural approaches prove effective. In this ongoing conversation with Dr. Jacoby, we continue to dismantle these assumptions and provide insight into the role that nutrition and stem cells have in the world of restorative medicine and beyond.
Considering What You Eat
When people think of a proper diet, it is usually in terms of weight, whether they are looking to gain or lose weight. However, from Dr. Jacoby’s experience, diet encompasses so much more. Diet goes far beyond controlling weight and encompasses giving your body and brain the fuel they need to function optimally. An improper diet can do the opposite, including increasing symptoms of depression and anxiety, conditions that traditionally are often treated with medications that can make the problems worse. Eating the right foods, staying hydrated, getting sleep, and minimizing stress can address a wide variety of health concerns, from minor to severe.
One culprit of a wide variety of health conditions is unstable glucose levels. This is a topic that can often be ignored, especially in mainstream medical care. However, glucose levels can have a serious impact on your health, a concern that Dr. Jacoby wishes was made clearer to patients in need. When a person has an improperly balanced glucose level, they can face a wide range of health issues, such as fatigue, weight gain, and chronic inflammation. Unfortunately, part of the challenge with glucose is a lack of understanding regarding what is in the foods we commonly purchase from stores and restaurants. A staggering amount of products are created using high fructose corn syrup, which can lead to high glucose levels and obesity, diabetes, and a variety of other health issues.
Changing Lifestyle Choices
Throughout the conversation, Dr. Jacoby and Debbie Nelson continue to demonstrate the value of considering lifestyle choices before diving into prescription medications to aid in ailments. These choices involve understanding the crucial role diet plays for not just the body but also the mind, the value of exercise, stress management, and more. Small changes can significantly impact glucose levels, which, in turn, improves health. By promoting this understanding, we hope to encourage those struggling with health issues or looking for alternative solutions to consider holistic options.
Making major changes to your lifestyle isn’t always easy, especially when it comes to the foods you consume. However, when you consider the damage your comfort foods may be doing to your body, they lose their comforting appeal. Through our conversation with Dr. Jacoby, we gain a better understanding of the importance of advocating for yourself. In too many instances, we find people relying on medications when all they really need is better dietary choices, exercise, and coping skills for stress and anxiety.
At Alternative to Meds Center, we are honored to have the opportunity to speak with Dr. Jacoby. He continues to be an ongoing advocate for the holistic approaches to health care that truly work.
