Shrimp is a great protein, I’ll bet it’s the dairy and it sounds like that higher cholesterol is due to the weight loss and will correct itself. Don’t stress about it. You’ve Got This ❤

The egg cholesterol situation confuses me because it’s actually been discovered that eggs are not as bad as they previously thought. I eat 3 to 4 eggs a day. I am on medication for high cholesterol- have been for probably 25 years. It’s hereditary, and my cholesterol is actually down as of two months ago before I started my weight loss journey. Used to love shrimp and ate it three or four times a week, but then I became allergic. 😢Hopefully your labs will improve and you will be able to stay on the Monjaro.

You are correct, all the new doctors studies show that eating eggs is god not bad, and the Ratio between Hdl and Ldl is important not the total number number- it’s weird that so many doctors eat low carb/ but still tslk high cholesterol nonsense!

Cholesterol will be high if you are losing weight because that is how the body transports fat being emptied out of cells to the liver where it is metabolized (triglycerides). Also dietary cholesterol makes up a tiny amount of circulating cholesterol, your body makes 95% of the cholesterol and will down regulate the amount it makes if you happen to eat more.

Same thing happened to me on my blood panel. I never realized how much saturated fat I was eating. I was just trying to get my protein in. It’s a fine balance between getting enough protein and not eating too much fat.

I would personally recommend not taking nutrition advice from primary/internal medicine doctors as they are not trained in it… new research shows that total cholesterol really doesn’t matter, protein is always king, the foods you were eating were great, only thing is dairy could be aggravating your system. Dr. Berg is a fantastic resource on KZfaq.

I agree. Your insurance will pay for a dietitian since you are diabetic. You also don’t really need to eat “low carb” as a diabetic. You just need to count your carbs and always eat them with fiber protein and a little fat and it balances your blood glucose. A dietitian who specializes in diabetes can help you with all of this. I am diabetic and my A1C is now 5.7 after working with dietitian, eating more carbs, and MJ

A vegan diet has plenty of protein. It is not just fruits and veg. As someone else in comments said, Earth Chimp protein powder and Butler Soy Curls (Amazon) are great. (And no, soy is not unhealthy.) Another excellent protein powder is Birdman. Lenny & Larry Cookified protein bars are delicious, not sure if every flavor has peanuts, though. Anyway, BEANS, chick peas, lentils, will give you protein and lots of fiber. Tofu and Tempeh are very nutritious proteins. Whole grains like quinoa, oats, brown rice are healthy carbs with decent protein. Try the protein pastas popular these days. They're very good. Broccoli is a veg with decent protein. Mushrooms, too. Hope this helps.

Hi Allie! Good luck with your next labs after your two weekvegan diet! I have given youshouts on my show the last two Mondays when giving myself my shot in the stomach. Tonight will be the third week in a row. I am trying to see if giving myself my mounjaro shot 4 weeks in a row in my tummy will help my food noise decrease and appetite suppression, after I saw how it greatly increased yours. I am probably ready to titrate up from 5 mg to 7.5, but wanted to try this first. I enjoy your videos! You always give us something to think about! Great advice to meet with your doctor every 3 months, while taking a glp1. I'll be kind and rewind! 😊

Vegan here with high cholesterol hx and also on tirzepitide. You can continue to meet those protein goals; Butler soy curls and earth chimp vegan protein shakes become your best friend. Hang in there. I feel your pain. I know how discouraging those labs can be! I can't eat any animal products without raising mine sky high. If I'm100% vegan I can drop my LDL below 70! I was put on zepbound because my dr said being on glp would help my liver. My liver labs have improved since being on it but then she also warned me to not lose more than a pound a week. I've been losing less than a pound a week. I'm a turtle. As a side note there were studies shown that glp help heal liver. Instead of going off the meds try going down in dose (I had to that temporarily)

Love the comments Allie from everyone look at the love and support you've received. I just wanted to say like everyone below you are going to get through this. Allie, are you taking vitamins and supplements I take a supplement called Milk Thistle as well as Omega 3's along with a daily vitamin. I know you will research and let me know what are your thoughts. What is your thoughts on intermittent fasting which gives the body's organs a rest along with renewed cells. After my recent colonoscopy I've done 24 -36 hours of fasting and I would like to say I felt so much better internally and mentally (black coffee, clear broth, water and clear liquids). I understood when you said due to all the weight loss your body is filtering stuff out and the liver maybe working a bit on overtime. Good luck with the journey you have our support.

Sorry ‘bout your bad numbers Ali. 😕 But I generally don’t sweat bad cholesterol too much (not that mine’s bad anymore). Rather, it seems like *Triglycerides* are the bigger concern. Apparently your *TG:HDL ratio* is a much better predictor of CVD events than LDL is. 🤔 A ratio of 2.5-to-1 or less is allegedly what to shoot for. Pleased to report that 10 months of MJ/Zepbound and lifestyle changes have dropped my Tris from 172 to 71. 😍 On the liver stuff… slightly scary. You don’t have MASH/NASH/MASLD/whatever they’re callin’ it this week, do you? 😥

I never had alt issues so no experience there but did with cholesterol. The cholesterol going up is the weight loss usually, surprisingly my Dr told me that first test that went up and she wasn’t concerned, my triglycerides were low everything normal, she said the cholesterol was the rapid weight loss and it would eventually go down as the body stabilizes and that it takes time. I looked up why cholesterol goes up after weight loss and saw the explanations there in more details than the Dr explained. Pretty interesting Its been 20 mos since starting MJ and most has been lost so the cholesterol started getting better the last couple of tests. I have blood drawn every 4 mos now. Did you calculate your ratio HDL/LDL ratio? I was never worried because my ratio was always good. Drs usually wont mention that part.

I know you mentioned green tea possibly daily and yes you said in moderation (1x da) but I have just read that green tea can damage the liver if overused. So hard to win at this game😬 so maybe alternating with coffee days. Eesh! 🙄♥️ ps egg whites don't have cholesterol would they be bad because it's an animal protein??
@mrs.fussaplenty3952 ай бұрын
Many of the things you are already doing is probably going to help with reducing cholesterol. Losing weight, soluble fiber, and exercise are all ways to reduce it. Did you get it checked before your weight loss journey? I ask because insulin resistance typically goes hand and hand with high cholesterol. OWN Protein shakes also has less saturated fat and cholesterol, they sell them at Sam's too. I just think they are kinda gross because they are sooo thick. Like drinking cake batter. But that might be your thing. 🙂
@mrs.fussaplenty3952 ай бұрын
I just to point out that it isn't necessarily the cholesterol in the food but reducing saturated fats is key. Animal products like meat have higher saturated fat. Soluble fiber (Oats, Barley, Berries) will help some of the cholesterol from absorbing into your body. Whey protein actually can be of benefit to reduce cholesterol. You could also get a good quality whey protein powder and mix it with what you want. I use ISO and mix it with Fairlife low fat milk.

Eggs have gotten a bad rap, and the eggs and the shrimp are more then likely not what is causing the high cholesterol, look more at processed foods like the flour wraps that your wrapping around those shrimp. Also the artificial sweeteners are horrible, I know you’re diabetic, but just cut out the sweeteners all together. Also VEGAN is the absolute worst things to do, you are suppose to be eating high protein with being on GLP 1 medications. I eat no bread, or rarely, I eat more meat and little vegetables. Watch the processed protein bars. I am proud that you have lost so much weight, but seriously look into not doing Vegan, it is all full of gluten which is inflammatory and I personally know many who went Vegan and they gained a bunch of weight not lost weight.
@FitFlavorFun2 ай бұрын
You can still get protein from plants. I agree with you about the wraps
