I’m just glad they’re still being sold in the states yet! Unlike Australia. Have you had a leaky cam chain tensioner gasket leak yet? I have almost 9k miles on mine now and just field stripped the bike and replaced gasket this week. Another common issue I guess.

Thanks Dane! Hopefully will help. Yea on all the “newer” bikes. Forgot what year the dealer told me they put them on because I thought it was just California bikes. But guess not.

The charcoal canister is an easy removal to. Sits behind the left plastic panel. Replacing the exhaust helps a bunch also.

Really? I did not notice any noise coming from there. Maybe try some RTV silicone? All I did was snug up the plate and it was fine.

(Updated) As far as the canister goes. There are 2 lines that run on the left side of bike from the canister. 1 which runs to the bottom of the carb intake. That needs to be capped! Use a fuel rated vacuum cap or cut an inch or so of the hose you removed and plug it with a bolt. The other hose on the left runs to a check valve. Remove that. Then theres a line on the right side of the tank that runs to the check valve also. Remove it. This is your fuel tank venting so take the longest hose from canister and attach it under your tank and run down to the right inside of your swing arm and use the springs to protect hose. DO NOT block your fuel tank vent. That needs to breathe. As far as the pair valve kit. It only comes with the plate like you see in my video. I just screwed that in. There isn’t a gasket. At least that im aware of. I thought I uploaded a video of the canister removal but apparently not. Watch this one from Southern Dual Sport for guidance. The only we do differently with ours as we have the stock tanks is to use that longest hose from the charcoal canister to vent your gas tank. Hope this helps! Hi again, the block off plate that I got just said to use the gasket that was on the plate you took off. I saw another video where the guy made his own block off plate and made his own gasket, he had to buy a big sheet of it and only use a couple of inches.@@hegemonictrader45

Hi again, well I followed your directions and it went pretty good, just have to put on the blocking plate then do the carb jetting. I pulled the snorkel and cut four 3/4" holes in the air box top. Really nice when you remove the tank, so much easier to see everything. That is a lot of crap that came off the bike today. Were you in the US military? I was in the Canadian Forces for 25 years and got out in 1991. I plan on using the 150 main jet when I do the carb. I will use the long line when I put the tank back on and route it down the right side. Anyways look forward to more of your videos.@@hegemonictrader45

I’ve noticed less. But I also rejetted too. Moreover, with how lean these run from the factory these pulse air into your exhaust burning excess fuel that was not combusted. So at night the if I ran the bike really hard the header would be cherry red. It would glow pretty good. I thought something was wrong and showed the dealer a video of it and says its normal. There are some forums online about the DR header glow on newer ones. But now after removing this and rejetting you can still see a glow at night due to how thin the header is but it doesn’t glow nearly as much as it did.

I made a mistake in the video of where the plug caps go. They will plug the ports on the pair valve itself, not the plastic T by the carb. That way you can keep the pair valve on the bike if you ever want to hook it back up. This way you only have to remove the hoses.

I don’t think you’d have to. I believe I was doing other things at the time so had it off.

I actually did remove that. I used the longer hose from it to vent the tank. I kept both metal coil springs also as I routed it behind the engine to the inner right side of the swing arm.
