DR650 Ride - Engine Sound Only

I'm back! It's a beautiful fall day in Tennessee, perfect riding weather, and the Suzuki DR650 is running great. I'm trying out some new audio and video techniques so I'm featuring the juvenile sounds of the 648cc Suzuki thumper, piped out of the Yoshimura exhaust, and nothing else.
Thank you @Schaaf for showing us how to properly use out audio recorders to capture motorcycle sounds.

Sounds great bro. The deceleration popping gets a little worse with a free-flowing exhaust because the engine is leaner. I think you have a carburetor you might be able to richen it up and or a pair of valve delete. The pair valve injects air from your air box after combustion into exhaust for emissions exacerbating the lean condition.

Great video. Also a recent new owner of a DR. So far the bike is all that I expected and more. For a carbureted sport bike I recommend a 1998-2000 Kawi ZX6R. Fast and very comfortable for the street. I had a 98 on the street for many years and had a 2000 race prepped one for the track. I loved them.

SDM, 4th gen Honda vfr750. V4 engine, gear-driven cams (sounds fantastic), and carb’d. Single-sided swing arm. I just sold my 5th gen (1st year with EFI….’PGM-FI’ was a ‘98. I had a ‘98.

So are we talking mid 90s for fourth gen? My best friend had one of those back in the day and it was super sick.

Yes, mid ‘90’s. Mine was the 1st year for the 5th gen (‘98) with fuel Injection. Loved it. Only let it go due to my age. But the 4th gen, I know, had carbs. Go get one.

SFM, I do like your JNS headlight. I, however, have decided to go with bajadesigns dual (side-by-side) S-1 pod lights for a headlight setup and throwing some of Thumperjockey 3k lumen pods on the Evo tapered handle bars.

Awesome video. Love the subtitles instead of a constant commentary that overshadows the sound of the bike. It would be great to see this exact setup with a little bit of off roading. Did you do any work to the carburetor once you slapped on the Yoshi pipe or are you running it stock?

Thank you for the kind feedback. I need to get her off-road but it might need to wait until spring or a streak of warmer / dryer weather as I'm about 40 minutes away from where I ride off-road. No carb work yet but I have a Procycle breath easy kit waiting on me.

After switching out the front fender did the issue with front wheel wobble at higher speeds go away?

@PhoxMane, sadly no, but the new fender looks great. I suppose the issue with probably tire balance or wear.

Personally if I wanted a street bike with carbs my only choice would be a Suzuki RG 500. where did you place the mic to get that great sounding DR?

I was using a Zoom H6 sandwiched between upholstery foam and placed in a backpack.

I started watching KZfaq videos a few months ago and I'm using Final Cut. I'm trying to learn something new every time I edit and I'm focusing on efficiency and function lately. Perhaps it would be useful for me to keep a public playlist of editing videos that I find useful ?
