This was the hardest thing I ever had to do! I thought that taking off the glass screen at the beginning was going to be the hardest thing, but once you get to removing those Barbie sized screws and have to pry out the old battery pack that's pretty much super glued on, I felt like I was going to pass out. But the worst of it was installing the new battery and getting that loop to latch into the tiny peg thing. That took me the longest, to lift the board up and push in the loop high enough to get over the peg so that it loops in. This guy definitely makes everything look easier than it is! Anyways after three hours of doing it all, I was able to install the battery. I would recommend starting at where the camera is at to start prying the screen open. I used a very thin guitar pick to do it and you definitely need to heat the edges with a hot blow dryer so the glue unsticks (this takes a long time btw). I used several thicker guitar picks to hold the corners open in place. I also used an old credit card to pry out the old battery pack. To loop in the new battery pack I used an old credit card underneath the battery to elevate the loop and I used a tiny flat head screwdriver to prop the board up high so that the loop gets in high enough to be set into the tiny peg. That part is probably what takes the most patience. Thanks anyhow tech guy!

I found tweezers work for small screws, and the scraping tool keep dipping in alcohol and pry underneath the battery, starts to release the glue better, faster.

Just replace the battery, screen and charging port on my Huawei M3. My Ipad battery is complete dead. So this time i got some clamping tools as when i did the Huawei, i did not have clamping tools specialize for this job. The huawei is working fine but is not flat as i used industrial clamps. You need four clamps for the four sides plus some good glue like T7000 then it would be well stuck and feels like new and most importantly flat. Update: Change the battery on the Ipad air. Took me 30 minutes. Easy. You dont need to remove the Motherboard. The battery caught fire, but went out quickly as it was discharge. Used the clamping tools, looks like new and flat. But it was a bit more than 30 mins because i was busy cleaning the screen as there was fingerprints and fine dust. This video helped alot. Thanks.

Probably best video for A1475, A1474 or A1476. The rest of the videos I found on youtube were all bad made by people breaking the glass or just not knowing exactly what to do. If you guys have trouble removing the digitalizer just do it this way. Some parts will need heat as you go on following the edge so take your time and if you have to push a lot just keep heating a bit and try again. You shouldn t have to apply force if it is warm enough. Also from my experience dont push the tool all the way around the button and camera sensor. The first part is just patience. Congrats for the video!

Excellent video! Taking it all apart took me around 45 minutes. When taking off the old battery, I could feel how strong the adhesive was. So to solve that, I would hit the back of the iPad with the heat gun, targeting the adhesive areas of the old battery while slowly running the plastic tool underneath to pry it up. The heat really helps to pry off the old battery. Just hit it in the areas you are prying up, and you’ll see how much easier it is to lift it. But do it slowly and carefully.

I managed to replace mine without breaking the glass. Kudos. But the old battery is too worn out, it has become fat / swollen, that when i try remove it,the cover is torn and expose the internal parts of the battery .some odour comes out and some mini fire and quickly fade out.It must be from the lithium. Luckily the battery was near to 0% so no explosions or big fire. It freaked me out. In the end I managed to get it out and insert the new battery.

Yeah the less energy(charge) in the battery, the better. If it gets bent too much or is pierced the stored chemical energy comes out as heat. Congratulations for keeping calm and doing it! 😀

@IONHowTo2 жыл бұрын
Ask your lawmakers why they allow it. This is nothing compared to future models and small repair shops having no official parts source afaik. Lots of companies fight against the right to repair. I believe it's way more profitable to tell the user, buy a new one. In some cases buy a new one is a good choice but some users don't need the latest shiny tech available.

Hi, this took you 18 minutes in total ?

Thanks Dragos, it worked great without removing the motherboard - a bit of patience needed when removing the existing battery but it worked. Consider that the battery is attached with some sort of a pin (with a hole in the battery circuit) - so you need to pull the battery upwards where it is still attached, to remove it from that pin. I did, however, manage to break the digitizer when removing it, just like you mentioned, so had to get that too, but that's not your fault:). Thanks again and keep up the good work! Multumesc mult!

Thanks Dragos...the battery I ordered should arrive tomorrow, this video was very clear and easy to understand. One question, I do have a heat gun, should I be worried about overheating the iPad? Should it be warm or really hot? Thanks
@IONHowTo4 жыл бұрын
Yes you could over heat it. Keep it far 10-20cm away and heat until you cant touch the ipad then try to open it
@IONHowTo4 жыл бұрын
To be more clear, when you can't touch it for 2-3 seconds it's at least 60 degrees celsius. No need to go above 80-100 celsius. At 60, the glue is soft enough to be able to gently and slowly pry out the glass cover.
