Wow!! That’s quite complex! Looks like a puzzle that all fits together perfectly. Beautiful work.

It is a very complex job. I'll be doing a complete overview video once I have all the pipes in. Hope all is well in the great Northwest! ;-)

TNX YL. We have much more to do! That was just Phase One in the basement. As you know we have to get a few more drains in and 90 percent of the vents. Then the water lines. Then the gas lines. Then the radiant heating piping! You better start eating more to add insulating fat as it's going to be damn cold there in a month. Brrrrrrrrr!

@@askthebuilder I cannot outgrow my overalls!! It’s bad enough I have to wear thermals underneath. Hey Tim can you run heat to the porta Jon?
@askthebuilder9 ай бұрын
Those overalls fit really loosely. I think you could put an extra 20 pounds inside them with no issues. No heat to the porta-john! Sitting on cold plastic builds character for goodness sake!

Hey Tim, I thought that you still preferred cast iron to plastic pipe for drains. What is the deciding factor to go with one or the other? Ted in Oshawa.

I don't own this house. In this case, PVC is fine in this house because 95% of the noise-making piping is under the 1st floor of the house. There is one stack to a guest bath on the second floor, but it's going to be well insulated because I insisted a 2x8 wall be put at that location. Cast iron is to be used where you must have quiet.

Thanks for your reply Tim. Just another quick question, down there you guys use PVC for drains but up here, they use ABS (at least in residential that is). Why is that? Is one better than the other?

Every man has his price. Reach out to me. I have an up-to-date passport and you just have to sign for the permit. No one will be the wiser. ;-)

Does Maine not allow wet venting?
@askthebuilder9 ай бұрын
Yes it does. I only have one opportunity with a second-floor bathroom to wet vent the toilet with the adjacent vanity. The layout of all the other fixtures in the house doesn't allow the vent to meet the maximum-distance requirement. Since we're not up there yet with the piping - I'm waiting on the carpenter to finish the roof and remaining plumbing walls, it was not shown in this video.

TNX for your kind words. I attribute it to discovering the path to TRUE HAPPINESS about seven years ago. Also, I took stress out of my life about ten years ago after recovering from the wretched Google Panda algorithm update that took away 95% of my revenue. But I'd say discovering how to be truly happy has enhanced my skin and my psyche. I should probably write a short book about what I discovered and sell it.
