Very interesting! I never considered radiology until I realize that I like looking at imaging while studying for step 1 and it dawned on me that I never explored this field yet! NO PAPER WORK?...that's a huge plus. My friend's aunt is a radiologist and she gets to work from home, which is also a plus. I always loved ANATOMY TOO!, One of the big reason I went into medical school! hmmm...now you have me considering...Thanks for the video!

When I was young I knew I wanted to be a doctor but still didn’t know what exactly until I had a medical complication 6 years ago when I was 15. If it wasn’t for radiology and my awesome radiologist and technicians I wouldn’t be here today and they were nice enough to tell me all about their job and why they like it. And that’s when I fell in love with it and all the tech is super interesting to me and I did projects and presentations on it in school. And I’m excited that I’m working towards becoming a radiologist!

He works the most important role in the whole hospital, is good at it, and has inspired and helped so many people with this KZfaq channel. If God is real, there is for sure a spot in heaven for him!

Cool video. I'm a radiologist in a small city in Iran. we have outdated technologies (imagine reporting a mammogram on a CRT low resolution monitor or deciding about a complex fracture without reconstruction). there are lots of paperwork and writings (No voice recognition system or...). because of lack of many other modalities, a huge part of our work depends on ultrasound exams, killing my shoulder, neck and vocal cords! payments are horrible and delayed. Radiation protection is poor, and... but with all these, I love it! I love images, videos, decision making, looking for piece of puzzles and helping patients and my colleagues by doing this. I think if you love something, You'll find the reasons. and if you don't, nothing could convince you.

Those are exactly the same reasons that made me finally decided to choose radiology, it all started with my Radiology teacher when I was back in the medical school that said to me: You should pursue radiology that will suit you. Then I started to check more and more about it and your 10 reasons are the reasons why I will choose it... Thank you so much this was definitely a confirmation 😍

When a patient goes into the hospital and gets some type of imaging done, what determines whether the images get sent to a diagnostic radiologist or an interventional radiologist? Do the two share/swap images sometimes?
@makks9021

The diagnostic radiologist diagnose ur disease with the help of radiological pictures, the interventional radiologist uses these picture to plan further interventional steps ( like a Angiography, Biopsy, etc )

I don't see AI overtaking anytime sooner. You know what happened to radiologists with the technology boom? It makes your work way easier that other doctors want you to see more images lol. Radiology call can be very bad, and you are basically working nonstop because you have so much work to do. AI will definitely help take the burden down. And radiologists have some sort of patient contact, not much as other docs but fair amount. Also, there is the liability issue. In the end you need doctors to oversee the cases for double check. Sure, pay will go down, but radiology will still make tons of money. I can definitely see nurses getting replaced though. Biggest threat for rads are outsourcing where people will read images for much cheaper price. Already happening

You’re one of the only doctors on KZfaq that is a radiologist, so it’s nice to get your perspective. Those pros are great, but the one con that I can think of that out weighs the pros is the lack of patient interaction. Even though I’m introverted, I would prefer to interact with patients and other physicians. Can you speak a bit about that aspect of the job?
@CuriousEM

You could always pursue interventional radiology for the patient contact.
