Hello.
In this video I investigate an E0/E3 error with a suspected M-Holder fault.
This is the most common fail point on these machines.
CLD-D590,CLD-D390,CLD-S310/CLD-S315,CLD-D790 and similar all use this part and are prone to the same failure overtime and in some cases when shipped to a new home.

I had a problem with my laserdiscplayer with a similiar motor sound. Simply fixed it by placing a piece of plastic under the white rail to raise it up abit so the gears could grab on to it. Works perfectly now😅

Thanks for sharing another excellent and informative video regarding these Pioneer laserdisc players . My own Pioneer 925 has been sticking during the laser side turnover from A to B . Any suggestions what may be causing this ? It jumps back a frame or two on screen while struggling to do that but does do it eventually . Cheers !

Thanks for the comment. I would check to see if the M-Holder is cracked 1st off. If its jumping tracks it's still in my opinion without seeing the machine a faulty holder. 😉

Any idea what would cause the laser to go to far? And due to that break the m-holder.

Hola, tengo ese mismo reproductor, el problema es que con un disco Laser Disc al principio detecta el disco y la cara del mismo, pero a la hora de empezar a reproducir en la panatalla aparece "Open" y lo expulsa la bandeja, ¿Que puede ser? en los otros discos no me lo hace, funcionan sin problema. Muchas gracias, un saludo.

I’ve just done this repair - had the no disc error so re-seated the ribbon cable, and now getting H2 error. Any ideas?

Faulty -5 on the PSU. Power Supply is the most likely culprit.

@@DRCHRISTIANMD That’s what I feared - no experience with soldering etc. Will have to try to find someone to look at it

@RetroReels Probably best to change all the capacitors on the PSU. That said I found the PSU and it's traces to be very fragile. I am also not by any measure good at soldering!

I have had the power supply re-capped and checked - still H2 error. Anything else worth looking at? No visible damage on any of the main board or dry solders etc.

Hi I’ve just bought a d925 with a bad belt however in the hands of the delivery company it’s been crushed. Could you tell me if the upper slide for the laser should be completely flat? Mines bent downwards and fouling the drawer!

Scratch that I went for it and straightened it out and it works both sides now now just wait for my belt to arrive 😊

So is the video/composite feed coming via the scart outlet on the rear, not being digitally processed the same way the "direct" composite and SVHS feeds are from the card? Or are the three feeds tied to the same "enhancements"?

Hello and thanks for watching. You will find all the outputs get digitally enhanced on the way out of the player. I find depending on the device I am output to ie. TV, AV AMP, PROJECTOR etc. You can find a better or different result on the quality of the output. The HQ circuit on and off makes the biggest difference to the picture on output.

@@DRCHRISTIANMD Thank you as ever for your knowledge and most importantly time to answer my questions. I thought that would be the case. I'm running a good old IXOS XHT901 and am using the Plasma VT30's own 3D Comb filter with the HQ and Display FL off.

Don't want to impose. Is there any way to get in contact with you regarding a no disc error on a CLD-1850 ? Seems like all meganisims is funtioning however disk refuse to spin. Btw. Im in Ireland and seeing that you are the leading authority on these machines, naturally you would be the first line of contact.

Hello, and thanks for watching my videos. I wouldn't have any spare parts for this machine anymore. My hunch is either a loose cable for power, maybe a bad power board, or simply the motor has died. Have you tried a CD. Beign smaller, it might spin up?
