I developed milia after a C02 laser procedure. The milia on my cheeks were not in a place where they could be removed because they are too deep in the skin. It’s been a battle to get rid of them but all of your suggestions over time have helped me develop a game plan. Thanks for this inclusive list. I’m already using several of the products you mentioned (Exuviance Peel, PC BHA, tretinoin, azelaic acid) and will add others over time as needed.

Dr Dray, I watch your videos ALL the time but am particularly thrilled that you're addressing the milia issue. I get them almost all the time and have been to dermatologists to get rid of them. Am glad to see you've got some cheaper options. I have a further question. I have just finished radiation treatment for tongue cancer. As a result, my neck is a mess from the radiation. It is hyperpigmented (I look like I have a dirty neck) and it's also VERY dry, with scaly patches of dry skin. Which product would you suggest would be best for milia, hyperpigmentation and radiation damage scaly skin? If I need to buy two, I can do that if they aren't too expensive (widowed and in reduced circumstances, yadda yadda). Oh not that it matters I suppose but my cheek and ear are very dry too but not scaly like my neck. I had 39 radiation treatments for 39 weekdays in a row. Thank you if you can help me.

I hope you see this but consider trying Niacinamide (such at The Ordinary niacinamide) and if it’s still very dry, I would try using plain old Vaseline at night before bedtime (“slugging”). I know she has other videos on hyperpigmentation so I would try searching for those bec she likely has many other suggestions)! Glad you’re doing well!

Thank you so much for this informative video!!! Only recently I began exploring skincare in general and trying to get rid of my milia (I am 30 and up until recently did the bare minimum of cleaning my face from make up and before bed- nothing else...) I think that other then exfoliating, moisturizing and sunscreen, what helped was softening the skin, or softening/ loosening the certain build up- I use Aloe Vera gel and propolis creams and once I began it notably improved the dissolution of milia. Wonder if it makes sense, or just a coincidence.

@@celestema2506 Yes! I had them for a good 2 years, if not longer. I didn't notice them at first/I didn't think they were a big deal. After realising I was using too heavy products, I changed my heavy moisturiser to the Cerave Daily Moisturising Lotion, and started using retinol and chemist exfoliation. After 6+ months of no change in the millia, I decided to get them removed. It does sting a little and will heal like a regular scratch. After about two days of healing, they're completely gone! It's scary since its close to the eye, but do see a professional and it'll pay off!

Hi Dr Dray, although I'm not prone to milia I want to reassure people with sensitive skin that they can use retinoids. I have both rosacea and eczema prone skin which can be hypersensitive, but I worked my way up slowly and carefully to my current regime of tretinoin 0.05% on alternate nights to my azelaic acid. This is keeping my rosacea controlled although occasionally if I have a product reaction (despite patch testing), I have to skip both for a few days. It took a long time and careful preparation to get to this stage, but the results have been so worth it. It's worth a try, but be very cautious initially. Best wishes.

@ruthie_rosario
@ruthie_rosario 2 жыл бұрын
@@IdlanRafiqi I had the same issue and couldn’t tolerate tretinoin every time I tried it in the past. I did some research and discovered that niacinamide can help reduce irritation. I would use 10% niacinamide serum in the morning and night for a month before I started using tretinoin again, and it actually worked! My peeling is now minimal after the purging stage. The niacinamide serum made all the difference. So now, I just use the 10% niacinamide serum in the morning along with spf 50, and 0.1% tretinoin at night.

I just purchased the newer Pixi Clarity tonic. It contains glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids. And fragrance free! I’m really enjoying it so far and it doesn’t leave a film on my skin like the PC BHA. 👍

I was thinking of purchasing that Pixi product but they don’t disclose the active percentages. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Paula’s choice leaves a film because of the things in there to help peel the top and yet protect the skin from active damage. It also smooths so you can moisturize and makeup right on top without getting little rolling balls of product which could give an annoyingly uneven finished face. It seems to make pores smaller. I’ve been unhappy with similar-type products from other makers for that very reason.

Have you checked your moisturizer? I started using TO Ascorbic acid + alpha arbutin and it made my skin sooo smooth. But the moment I stopped it and went back to using my TO moisturizer (NMF + HA), my milia started to come back again. 😭

I started Biologique Recherche P50 lotion 2 weeks ago (Paula's Choice considered being its dupe), and so far I see some difference in my pore size. 4 more weeks to go to see if I'm gonna be satisfied or not 😊

I’ve used prescription based retinoid and yeah they were gone but I also experienced some dryness which wasn’t that bad and resolved with moisturiser. I also physically removed some of them with a sterile needle but do as Dr dray says guys don’t try to remove them yourself unless you’re familiar with it.

I had a milia on my nose once and freaked out 😩 I was in between a refill on my tretinoin and was without it for a week. When I finally got another tube of my beloved tretinoin.. the milia was gone overnight. I was shocked by its efficacy on the milia and have never stalled out getting my refills ever again lol.

Hi! A few years ago I tried popping a pimple but at the time didn’t realize it was milia. I have a red scar that has not gone away. Do you have any suggestions for scar removal? It looks like a red dot but almost like a tiny red vein too.. Thank you so much!

I have been looking all over for info on Milia. Three doctors in the Dallas area are clueless as to what this is growing on my left cheek. 4 scrips later and I'm having some awful symptoms. 6 months into this onset, and You may be the first one who spoke up about this dreadful crap that's been destroying my face. Thank you. BTW I'm a native Houstonian, hut call Dallas area home now. XX

Hi Dr Dray! I was wondering if you would do a video on how to take care of the skin on the ears. Mainly yeast overgrowth and seborrheic dermatitis on the ears. How to treat it and get it to stay away. Are there things to do daily (besides sunscreen) to keep the skin on the ears healthy? Thank you!
