This video explains how I planned and executed the plumbing of my reef tank. The process took several weeks of planning and 4 days to actually plumb. I highly recommend drawing out your plumbing schematics before executing. Overall it was a success.

Great video(editing and videography) and the sump looks beautiful to be honest. Takes a lot of planning but well worth it.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, there was definitely lots of planning involved when it came to setting up and plumbing my sump. I wanted to make sure I did it right the first time and not have to do it twice.

Nice setup! What do you think of the Aquamaxx S Q3 for your 100 gallon tank? I have one as well for my 120 I'm about to set up but wondering if it's too large of a skimmer for my system. Thanks!

1st off I love your tank, everything aspect of your reefing seems to be top notch. But I have a question... I'm assembling everything to get my new tank up & going. I found a plumbing Supply house online they advertised Furniture grade Schedule 40 PVC, glossy finnish, without print or bar codes. But it says... Not for use in a plumbing situations. Where did you get your schedule 40 blue PVC? Do you know if yours is considered furniture grade? Here's my thought, if we get it from a place like BRS, how do we know that they didn't get it from a plumbing supply house as furniture grade PVC?

Soft tubing, at least 8-12” of it on the return line helps to reduce vibration transfer from the pump. Ideally silicone tubing and a silicone mat below the bump for a true silent tank :)

Thanks for your advice. I was debating whether or not to do that, but the hard piping with the COR20 didn't give me any sound issues and is pretty much silent. Thanks for watching!

You run 1 filter roller , the main and the secondary drain is Both goes in the filter roller ? ( nice video btw )

Really good job man! Looks amazing, what size of pvc did you use? 1”? I’m planning my plumbing for a 120 Gallon with a Bean Animal as well, but don’t know if I should go with 3 drains on 1” or 1” 1/2? I feel 1 1/12 is way too much for the size of that tank! I would appreciate your recommendation!

Hey Allan! Thanks so much! I used 1" PVC which is plenty large for my system. I can't even open up the gate valve all the way because the water will come down too fast into my sump and make too much noise. I think 1" will definitely work for you especially since you're doing bean animal style. Let me know how it works out!

Hi Emanuel! The best thing would be to draw everything on paper to visualize everything. Then you can make a checklist of all the parts you need. Definitely order extra because you may want to make changes or make a few mistakes along the way. Also, unions are your friend. Thanks for watching. I appreciate your support!

Do you have the exit of the UV plumbed into the return lines instead of routing it back into the sump? If so, I would reconsider that one. Looks great all together!

@@PetmaluLife Do you have any safe guards on the UV plumbing to make sure that if the return is flowing at a higher rate than the UV it won’t backflow into the outlet of the UV?

Won’t it create pressure where the water is trying to exit? There is already flow going that way so want it be working against each other?

@@cameronbasford8991 Thanks for watching! Based on my flow sensors, looks like everything is at my ideal gph rate so it doesn't looking like there are any pressure issues.

Looks good. I would have had to gone with the Ecotech vectra return though. My OCD would not allow for an orange pump in that blue sump 🤣

Thank you! I could have gone with the vectra however I wanted to stick with one platform using my APEX. The APEX allows me to control the COR20 within it's platform. If I went with the Vectra, I would have to go into Mobius to control it. Also, if you've ever seen a color chart, Orange and Blue are complimentary colors:) So they compliment each other. So it actually breaks it up and prevents it from being too matchy matchy.

People like me can barely afford to be a part of it all these days. Artists don’t make much money in my neck of the woods.

Hey bro! Thanks for the sub! Congrats on your new tank build. To be honest, I’m still new to Apex so I couldn’t really give a fair comparison between Apex or GHL. I don’t think you could go wrong with either one. I liked the Apex only because it had a few more accessories, such as flow meter and it can control my COR20 return pump. I do like the clean look of the GHL though. As for piping, I highly recommend 1” piping. The bigger the better for more flow. Keep in touch and let me know how your tank build goes.

Hi Dowayne! Thanks for watching. I plumbed the outflow of the UV back to my right return line that goes directly to the tank. Happy Reefing!

I only have great things to say about your video production and your build equipment. Everything looks top of the line. However, I’m not sure the clarisea will be productive being plumbed off the manifold - by the time the water reaches it, the sump will already be a garbage can. Why can’t you switch the location of the skimmer with the clarisea? I would do whatever it takes to put the filter roller first whether drilling baffles or removing a baffle altogether.

Thanks for your feedback. ClariSea talks about being able to run your own pump from it. Works totally fine. I can control the amount of flow going though it as well. For example I really only want to be around 5x turnover for the tank but for the ClariSea I can bump that up to 10x if I wanted to. The water in the sump would circulate and be clean. Also, with the help of the large skimmer and UV, sump should be pretty clean. But only time will tell and also what kind of stock I put in. But, I’ll keep you updated for sure.
