10:30 yes, always go with gate valve. Ball valves are just not adjustable enough. Its a hard pill to swallow spending $60-75 on 1 valve but its vitally important for tuning

Just a thought 💭 maybe put a piece of egg crate light diffuser or something like that over the full siphon drain so if something like a snail makes it back it can't get stuck in the drain 🤔

I like how you went through every scenario what would happen. That is great that you don't need a check valve IM have thought it out. That sump is amazing I agree it has all the bells and whistles if you ever want to add anything. I've been wanting to upgrade to CADE but man after seeing your build so far with IM they are on the list.

Having the potential UV T’d off where you have it will effect the flow on that return line. So makes putting the tee for the returns right in the middle redundant. Very nice build and good to see you back.
@CJSAQUARIUMS
@CJSAQUARIUMS Жыл бұрын
This is true… guess end goal is just to get water back to the display any way possible. Return pump is oversized I’ll be able to push enough thru the pipes to accomplish the goal and feed all equipment and hopefully with back pressure from those valves feeding each mini manifold the return nozzles still have good flow… I may make a last adjustment once I drain the tank one last time not sure at the moment 😎

So glad to see you back in the hobby. Im running a bean animal on my 240g display tank. Are you going to run some sort of strainer on the drain lines to prevent snails or fish from going down into the sump or is not an issue with your setup. I wish I ran a few power loss tests during my set up. We lost power during an ice storm a couple years ago. Then the power company decided to cycle power on for 1 hour and off for 45 min. I quickly discovered I had the water level in my sump set too high. I also discovered the value of backup power supply (aka generator) Argh! The water stains on the wood floors buffed out after a few tries. LOL. All in all, really good to see you back. You were one of the few "no BS" guys I followed for tips and advice. I look forward to future videos.

Really cool! Not a reefer myself but I want to be. Now that’s the plumbing is done, are you going to do the aquascape with the water already inside or are you planning on draining the tank and refilling? Just foind your series and this is fantastic!!! Shout out to Reef Dork for pointing the way. I'm following along / taking notes for a new reef tank (only done a FOWLR and a HOB filter about 15 years ago). You mention tweaking things until the flow is correct/ silent. What (and how) exactly are you making adjustments to dial that in?
@CJSAQUARIUMS
@CJSAQUARIUMS Жыл бұрын
I found tuning the water right below emergency pipe fully submerging the primary siphon and secondary drain makes the tank silent. Regardless of standing wave or flow patterns in the display. Thanks for tapping in 💯

If I were you, then I would use two random flow generators instead of the stock ones that come with them. This should add more surface agitation and more random flow (hence the name) which will just make the flow more random and natural.
