@@ReefNerd btw did you have to source the santa monica leds yourself? Or was hmahli able to source them for u?

Great sump, great video, great hair. Don’t listen to the haters. All things aside great stuff keep them coming. If you don’t mind me asking, how much was the sump the way you built it?

Nice sump Marcus! I understand your thinking on why you have them there, but I worry your heaters could be exposed to air in the return section if something goes wrong.
@ReefNerd3 жыл бұрын
I run the heaters in my return chamber in my current build and its never been a problem in nearly 3 years. Most issues result in water draining into the sump, not out of it... cant really think of many scenarios that would lead to the sump draining that low unless I was manually removing water from the system

Nice sump , be interesting to see after a few months off use , would you change anything about it ,or is it your perfect sump . I have a new D-D pro 1500 tank , but I’m getting a custom sump built in the new year . Takes a lot of thought .
@ReefNerd3 жыл бұрын
Time will tell, so far to me its perfect, but its not plumbed and in use yet!
@parcool95413 жыл бұрын
Wow..superb..do you have refugium chamber and light for those in this sump?
@ReefNerd3 жыл бұрын
Not running a refugium, instead I am running an algae turf scrubber, waterfall style. The lights are built into it.

Why not have skimmer after roller and then bio media. Why bio media before skimmer?
@ReefNerd3 жыл бұрын
It really makes no difference performance wise, the water will already be pretty well filtered of particulates by the roller-matt which definitely needs to be first. The order of the skimmer, algae scrubber and biomedia following that really makes no difference.... none of those things make any material change to water quality via a single "pass" of the flow. They all operate effectively via multiple tank turn overs per hour.

When sealife centre meets domestic aquarium, shame it will be behind doors :)
@ReefNerd3 жыл бұрын
haha I certainly did think about having windows in the doors!
@Sammy31Dee3 жыл бұрын
You should actually NEVER ever mount heaters in your return pump section...it's the first chamber to run dry ...heaters stay on and melt your sump....
@ReefNerd3 жыл бұрын
yeah, unfortunately not many other places to put them. I would say the risk is low because they are actually mounted to brackets that are mounted to the sump, so the brackets would be damaged in that circumstance, but not the actual sump.
