@@VacuumWars thanks to this video I ended up buying the Z10 Pro 👍🏻 it was just €20 more than the Roborock S6 MaxV at a total of €450. The S7 MaxV+ was €1100 so money being money along with value, the Z10 Pro was just a no brainer.

One thing I never see you test that I think most people would appreciate is different pile carpet. We have a rug that our RoboVac refuses to work on and just gets stuck, but I never know if any other RoboVac would work because no one tests them on different piles of carpet.

I agree. I don't necessarily need to know the deep clean score on different carpet types but just verifying that it can successfully travel over them is valuable information!

Yes! I have an original Xiaomi robot vacuum and it works great on hard floors but it won't work at all on my medium pile carpet upstairs. Wish I knew that before purchase.

@@MKIVGTIVR6 if your carpet is dark in color, it could be an issue with the cliff sensors. See my video on a possible workaround.

Thanks for the review. It would be helpful if you’d share the details of the two most common types of tests (1) Hardwood and (2) Carpet, along with (3) navigation oddities. That is, I’ve owned both the Ecovacs T5, T8 AIVI and Roborock S6 Max V. All have pros/cons: S6 Max V has the best mapping/obstacle avoidance of the 3 of them. It also does the best on hardwood (due to the mapping that allows it to get closer to cabinets that the Ecovacs avoid for fear of hitting). But on carpet, the Roborock is useless - it doesn’t pick up anything. I’m surprised you didn’t find this as well?

I've had mine for three weeks now. It's very good at getting all the cat hairs and dust. Great with carpets. Competent, but not perfect with hardwood floors - I still find a little cat litter here and there. It navigates very well, avoiding cords and toys, and I've never felt worried that it would fall down the stairs. The trash station has worked great the times I've used it, but since I have two long haired cats I need to clean the brush after every session and then I might as well empty the trash manually as well. It's quite easy to clean the brushes and everything. No need for any tools.

@@danagunning707 All the things I said still holds true. It's really good at getting all the cat hairs, which is great, but it also means that I need to remove the brush and clean it from the hairs. Since I'm emptying the box every time, the automatic emptying is a wasted luxury. It has never fallen down the stairs, but it did vacuum toy rats at a few occasions that I had to come and free. I now do a quick check before we start it, and remove any toys from the floor. I also remove a small mat since it tends to be pushed around. We use it often, maybe 2-3 times per week, with great result. Everything is still working properly. All the brushes are still in good shape and there's no noise or creaks or anything to indicate that it's wearing out. I think it's a good purchase and great value, however, if you have a cat I'd try to save a few dollars by getting the version without automatic emptying. (If you don't have pets the automatic emptying is a GREAT function and I'd absolutely go for it.)

@@danagunning707 Then you should definitely try to go for the self emptying version. Whichever brand/model you decide to go with in the end, make sure you check the availability and price of the bags for the base station.

I really wish you'd add a high pile carpet test. We have a high pile area rug and my Neato get stuck on it SOMETIMES. It would be great to know which ones work best on high pile because it would factor quite a bit into my purchase decision.

For ex. if I'm not mistaken, I didn't see any numbers from Roborock S7 but S6 variant so that we can see real differences. Or where would you place it currently... Hope these suggestions would help.

Very big fan of your channel, and all of the content that you produce. Can you comment on how the Dreamehome app has held up since this initial review ? It does not have many reviews in the ios store. I'm trying to determine if the Deebot n8 Pro+ or this Dreame Bot Z10 pro will be easy enough for older users, who are not as technical . Trying to make it very easy. Want to avoid long map build times, maps getting lost, or the robot cleaning out of your set order. I've had all of these issues with the Deebot N8 pro, but when the map is complete and things stay on schedule, it has been working well.

You forgot the best thing with Dreame vacuums - it is really easy to root it and install Valetudo firmware to gain full local control, no cloud.

As for the company dying...well if you are concerned about that maybe you shouldn't have bought it from them in the first place. A company that dies they wouldnt have a good product to begin with (reliable, good quality, etc). Also if the company is gone you can forget about spare parts for your vacuum.

Yes, good price for obstacle avoidance and I'd say that ability might be on par with self-emptying when it comes to must-haves for full autonomy. Xiaomi makes good products, but they need to work on their confusing naming conventions. For example, S7 MaxV Ultra. There are 3 S7 vacuums, so why not just call it an S8 rather than tacking on more suffixes to an existing name.

I like your channel. Thank you for the videos. One stat I would love to know is the lowest clearance under furniture that the robots clean under (without getting stuck). I have a lot of furniture with 10cm (3.9 inches) clearance and am looking for a model that would clean under them. I feel like this would be rather easy to implement in your testing routine and I can't be the only one who would like to know.

I've watched reviews of both and ended up getting the Dreame Z10 Pro. My impression is that the S6 MaxV is slightly more competent when it comes to hardwood floors and mopping. It also has a camera that you can look through using the app. I'm quite happy with my pick and I'm sure you will be fine with either.

Thank you for the great videos. Can you tell me what your best pick for a mop/vacuum robot would be for hardwood floors only (lvt). My pick right now is the roborock s7 without the automatic empty. And then upgrading to the bagless auto empty at some point. Looking at what’s coming, though, I’m wondering if I should wait or just get something cheaper before I invest that much into it. Other top picks include narwhal, the dreametech w10, or a combo of the braava m6 and roomba i7. I have about 1000sf to clean, pretty small.

Can this reasonably be used without the bag? Seems like a good vacuum, but the bags are probably a deal breaker for me. Looking on Amazon, it's quite expensive to buy more bags, and I dislike generating unnecessary disposable waste like that. Especially I'm just dumping it in my garbage anyway

Love your vids. By the way, what do you think about including a puddle of brown soup as one of your obstacles for AI to detect and avoid? One of the reasons some people don't get robo vacuums is because they have pets and they puke and poop, and they don't want that to spread all around the house. One day the sensors and camera will be smart enough to detect and avoid even a very flat puddle, but it would be hard to know if that's not one of the tests. Thanks.

I would like a section in these video that is like the gauntlet. Have a bunch of test that almost no robovac can handle. Like a balloon string hanging down or some really hard navigation. I am sure the commenters could find a list of things to try. The hope would be that most robovacs would fail the test.

Problems with avoidance clearly due to poor firmware. You can see that when it "see" object it avoids it, but then, when it starts to go around, robot doesn't check object again from new perspective and hits it.

Recently I have a mopping issue: the water is being sprayed out definitely too rarely. I have the latest official firmware available 4.1.8_1156 and I did some tests to check how often and for how long the water is sprayed. Results are: Low spray for 3s delay for 70s Medium spray for 5s delay for 75s High spray for 5s delay for 60s Can someone please check and let me know? How to fix this? I am not sure what were the results before, but now the mopping pad is just dried out quickly and before it was not an issue...

Does it have a user replaceable battery? Pretty important IMO if you want these things to last more than a couple years

by couple years how long exactly do you mean? i have the original xiaomi, the S5 and the S7. The original xiaomi, 4 years old, still lasts about an hour and a half. And honestly i retired it because functionality wise is ancient history compared to new ones.

@@xeon2k8 Maybe the battery in yours was higher quality. But my DEEBOT battery after 1.5 years was no longer capable of cleaning my entire floor on one charge, so after that took two full charges to do it, which further decreased the battery life. It’s only 3 years old now, but I’ve already had to replace the battery

Thanks for the review. After trying the Shark robot that keep getting stock on the sunken star I am still looking and researching for a better one. Like everything but not crazy about the vacuum bag though.

I guess it’s kind of similar to fruit loops but can you do a comparison with large breed dog food? 😂 My Great Dane is a MESSY eater and the main reason I’m looking for a robot vacuum.

I have the S9plus also and I would take this over it. It just does everything very well. I'd say the S9 picks up more deep embedded sand(4 dogs living in Florida). Navigation is a little better and it can clean my Shag area rug, which my S9 can't. The battery life is so good that I can run it on full powere without a recharge. I only have 1110 sqft though.

I have the n8 plus and the auto empty doesn't work. Company told me if any pet hair is in bin to manually remove 1st. Considering this model or the roborock s7

@@mwright154 I ended up getting the n8 plus and have the same issue when it vacuums our carpets with pet hair. I saw a video online though where someone taped shut one of the black ports and it seemed to have worked for lots of people. I might try that

For the mop test, would you consider dropping some kind of oily mess? My kitchen floor sometimes get a bit oily and I haven’t seen robot vacuum that can clean them all that well.

Most robot vaccums just rub a damp wet pad across the floor. That's not going to do anything for an oily mess other than make it worse. These are not to clean up messes they're to maintain an already semi clean floor.
