Welcome to Part Three of this series of tutorials taking a detailed look at the A2A Simulations Accu-Sim Supermarine Spitfire package that includes the MkIa, MkIIa and MkIIb variants.
In this third episode we cover take off, climb, cruise, bad weather/low vis and look at some other aspects of flying the Spitfire.
My thanks to Curt Lewis for creating the beautiful MkIIb tribute repaint of Boultbee Flight Academy's Tr9 G-ILDA
MkIa PRU repaint by Bladerunner900, another classic!
Thanks also to our chief Spitfire pilot and crew chief Killratio for his help in the past and the present!

I was given a 'sit in a spit' voucher for my birthday ,which I hope to use when we come out of lockdown. Thinking I must get some knowledge of the spitfire I found your series. I was blown away with the excellent tutorials of the spitfire , it has opened up a new 'hobby ' for me ( especially in lockdown) I'm 74 and never played on any pc/ gaming products. So help anyone where do you go to get wants needed to start to fly! Thanks Stuart

Well thanks so much for watching sir! I am glad they were useful and I hope you don’t have to wait much longer to sit in that iconic cockpit. It’s an amazing experience. Problem is not wanting to get back out! Flight simming is going through some big changes at the moment. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 has brought a whole new level of realism to the scenery though we don’t quite yet have the aircraft to go with it. The Spitfire featured in these videos is running in Lockheed Martin’s Prepar3d v4 which has now been replace by v5 which gives even better graphics and performance. However the sim itself isn’t as ‘pretty’ as Microsofts new sim. We don’t know when or even if this Spitfire will be brought into the new MS sim. What makes this A2A Spitfire so fascinating is the detail that has gone into it. A2A make simulators for the military, government and commercial organisations so they produce ‘study’ level aircraft that have to be mastered. Because of the computing power necessary to run a modern sim you are going to need a beefy computer. It is cheaper to build your own but easier perhaps to buy a ready built ‘rig’. I got mine from Chillblast who produce PCs specific to flight sims. If you look at the about section of my channel you can see my specs. That was a high end PC a couple of years ago but technology moves at a fast pace! At least it gives you an idea of a base level for running a sim. I can have most settings towards the high end. So to get going you would need your PC, your simulator, your A2A Spitfire, a good quality joystick and I would also recommend rudder pedals and a throttle quadrant. The logitech throttle quadrant is a good start as well as their rudder pedals unless money is no object :) That will get you flying. On top of this, if you are using P3D, I would consider some good scenery from Orbx. Then TrueEarth GB series is a great way of having realistic scenery for warbird and VFR flying. Always nice to have something realistic to fly over! Another great tool is TrackIr which is best explained in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eb-SrMeZ17mZnIE.html You can then take your sim up another notch by adding a Weather engine, eg Active Sky, which will enable you to fly real world weather conditions both real time and historical. Eg if the weather outside today isn’t great for VFR Spitfire flying but last Sunday it was sunny, low winds and good visibility, then Active Sky can inject that whether for you from historical weather data stored online. On the other hand if it is a raging storm outside your house and you fancy your chances then you can go fly it in the sim! Anyway, its a big subject and at the moment there is possibly a strong argument to wait and see what aircraft come out for the new and ‘prettier’ Microsoft sim before getting the more expensive Prepar3d (also known as P3D). There are other Spitfire’s available but as A2A have made a Spitfire flight model that is used to train ‘real world’ pilots to fly the Spitfire then my money is with them. 😀 I hope this was of some help. If you have any questions please feel free to ask and thanks again for watching the series.

Ah, perfect! I've been sat at the holding point for 2 weeks waiting for Part 3. Radiator was getting a little toasty! : P In all seriousness, looking forward to watching Part 3 when I get a moment. Cheers

ah thank you, yes unfortunately the tower controller wouldn't let me enter the runway because there was a slug doing touch and go's. Safety first and all that.

Thanks Rob. Another useful video. Interesting you have to fly faster to keep cooler. Goes against 'normal' thinking where you would ease off the power.

These vids are fantastic, thank you. In your opinion, would you say the A2A Spitfire is the best version of a simulated spitfire?
@Dreamsofwings
@Dreamsofwings 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Yes, just looking at systems, the fact that it allows wear and tear and is in a persistent state and the flight model I would say it is. A2A produce simulators for the military and commercial organisations and the quality of their work shows through here. Hopefully we will see this Spit, or another Mk perhaps, in MSFS 2020 too.

@@Dreamsofwings That's awesome. Yes would be great to have those features (some of them anyway) in MSFS2020. Thanks for the content !

A question if I may, what exactly was the reason why they would fly slowly when in low vis? Just for a better reaction time if they saw something they were close to?
@Dreamsofwings
@Dreamsofwings 4 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly, I would imagine more time to spot anything nasty up ahead to give the better reaction time and possibly also more time to catch site of ground features for navigation.

How do you change the sound of your voice when your in the aircraft compared to your outside voice in the beginning of the video? I use Adobe Audition to do all my voice editing. Is it an effect you lay over your narration file?
@Dreamsofwings
@Dreamsofwings 4 жыл бұрын
For the non headset/intercom I am using a Blue Yeti with no effects and straight into editing software as a voice over. When I switch to headset mode I record into Audacity using my headset mic as I am flying, which gives it a different quality to the Yeti. Then in Audacity, using the Graphic Eq effect I turn it all up to 30dB, then apply a high pass filter at 2000Hz with a Roll-off at 6dB.

Sir I have p47 but it does not save last state neither load last state in new flight when I left the plane, In p40 or spitfire it saves everything,is it fault of my PC or that's how it works, please tell thank u.
@Dreamsofwings
@Dreamsofwings 4 жыл бұрын
First thing I would check is that you are fully updated on the P47. Take a look here to get the latest updater. a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=57819 If this doesn't do the trick I would post in the support forum so that A2A can troubleshoot it with you but I suspect the updater should fix it. Best of luck getting it fixed.
