I have officially found my dream house in Ghana - it might not be mine but its great inspo !! I was so excited when I found this house online & so grateful that Nana Boateng agreed to show us round her 7 bedroom house in Aburi! Nana’s house in the mountains is beautiful from being semi-self sustainable with her borehole & growing fruit and veg to the swimming pool to the kids play area and ALL THAT LAND! Also the chocolate was DEVINE! Who would need anything more! Thanks again Nana!

Vanessa, I heard you asking Nanna what kontomire was, next to groundnut soup, it's one of my favourite Ghanian dishes ever. You'll struggle to find a veggi version whilst you're there, so thought I'd drop you a link for a vegan recipe by plant-based naija... I personally add my own seasonings, but this is a good start. You're welcome 😉 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nZyfqMyFl5m-YX0.html

Those box houses are not typical ghanaian houses. Those architectural designs are introduced by new estate agents who have lived in Europe for many donkey years. Ghanaians don't buy those houses because they are too overpriced and usually not our taste. Typical ghanaian houses are usually spacious with big compounds and gardens.

@@slysteel7227 I'm actually Ghanaian, born and raised in La (Labadi), Accra. Why does everything have to be "an us vs them"? South African architecture is miles ahead of Ghanaian architecture in general. They don't just build for the sake of it like we do in Ghana. Their homes are designed to harvest the abundance of natural features from the environment the home is set in. They pay attention to natural land slopes, existing vegetation, cross ventilation and use materials harvested from the natural environment. They invest a lot into landscaping. Just drive around Accra and you'll see the abundance of multi-million Cedi concrete monstrosities with no greenery in sight. There's no regard for the environmental setting, overdependence on concrete, and no one wants to plant trees but everyone complains Accra is hot lol. You'll see many people importing synthetic doors from China, Germany etc, when we have an overabundance of beautiful variations of wood right here in Ghana. We have a lot to learn from South Africa and we should ship our architects there for better training. We could actually start by sending you over to learn a thing or two about architecture. I can start a GoFundMe on your behalf to send you there if you're interested 😂.
