Quality isn't bad at all and battery life is brilliant. My issue is I'm not so keen on the side of helmet view point, preferring chin mounts. Think I would want to see how stable the footage was fixed directly on the bike. Thanks for the review

I've watched this and your unboxing/spec/features video on this camera. So far, it's looking good to me. I had a Ghost X and an XL but like a lot of others I suffered from a lot of the random crashes and of course the mic connector issues. I liked the change to the waterproof screw in mic adapter on the XL, however felt the positioning was a stupid place to put it on the bottom where it could catch on your shoulder and break. Shame they didn't change that for the XL Pro. Another dislike of the X and XL was the video quality was actually worse than the older Ghost S model. The Ghost S also has a better FOV, I find the X/XL a bit too narrow for my liking. So for this new XL Pro, it is good to hear that they have improved the audio and got rid of that hissing noise. Video quality looks good albeit the max 140 FOV still seems too narrow to me (I may be too used to my Sony camera which I think shoots at 170). Much better being able to reset the camera without having to find a pin to press the reset button! That battery life is certainly impressive! It was one of the reasons I bought an XL. The price tag seems reasonable to me. I have to say, I am tempted to give Drift another go, after all they have the easiest and best design for mounting to a helmet. I just hope they have also improved their after sales care and general reliability of the cameras.

That battery life is amazing because I'd be lucky to get 30-45 minutes from my GoPro Hero 5, not to mention overheating or just shutting down without warning. I also like the streamlined design for riding at speed, so it doesn't buffet your helmet off your head. I'll probably go for one, so thanks for the video, mate.

Excellent quite- very natural looking.

I've had a number of Ghost Cameras. All worked as they should. The only two features that they lack are: - better stabilization and ability to film in HEVC H.265. Cost to use codec is prohibitive I'm told. But it has the advantage of lining up video at the right time for edit. Beat others in both battery life and performance without overheating and closing down

I had my lot with Drift. I bought the XL and it packed up two years to the day that I bought it. I found their customer service appalling and for it to only last two years was crap. GoPro's go for years. Shame really, Drift had the shape, the battery life all perfected. You can get a right angled cable to fit that, pathetic that the mic cable comes straight down like that. Asking to get bent and snapped, and can't believe they haven't changed that. I hope you have better luck than I and quite a few others have had with Drift. toj

Just bought one (thanks for the discount code!) based on your reviews. I've been umming and ahhing about whether to get a camera for my bike for many months, I've looked at Drift Ghost cameras a number of times, but never really decided it worth doing. However, it looks like the new XL Pro is the bees' knees, so I jumped in and bought one! Only slight worry I have is that I ride a Harley (Street Bob Softail), which are known for their vibrations, and I don't want the camera helmet-mounted, so I'm not sure how well it's going to cope with handlebar vibration. Still, I'm not vlogging or anything, so a bit of a shaky picture wouldn't be the end of the world I guess. Thanks again for the reviews!

Nice video, that microphone cable is the weakest link on the camera. I've gone through several of those hang down microphone cables and they hit my shoulder off roading and easily break. I finally bought a DJI . Drift customer service is beyond Horrible. Thanks for the video.

Quality is great but hopefully they will work on the image stabilization a bit more, it would be perfect!

To be honest I found the footage off the handlebar cam to be much better & sharper then the Drift cam.

Hmmm... ? Was given a Ghost XL a couple of years ago... great size, shape, video quality and battery life, but had a steady stream of glitches straight out of the box. When it worked was good but annoyingly would turn itself off or freeze on a very regular basis. updated from Drift website (several times) but still has same issues. Oddly, i have noticed it seems to happen more in colder temps... Hopefully this model will not have any of the same issues ?

Hello mate, Can you help me. Got 2 XLs after watching you excellent videos. My problem is the ‘instant on’ is not working. The setting on the camera and the Phone is showing ‘on’ One press and camera switches on to green and then I have to press again to record. Sometimes the camera switches off rather than record which is a faff. Both cameras work great apart from that. Regards….

Can you get external mic?

I wanted so much a new drift camera... but my ghost S (first version, after they changed something in lens and was not so good) is still better for my use. Fov of ghost S is 160°. For motorbike is perfect. With this new camera AGAIN only 140°, too much narrow. Thay can make also a 8k camera, but 140° will be always not good enought for motorbike use. If you could keep us posted on the life of the battery. I am on my second set of three batteries for my ghost S, they get warm. Would be interesting how a built in batteries stands up to no cooling other than non use. Use all day, charge before morning then go again. To much money to throw away the camera because the battery is damaged or dead…

looks to me like they still not got the stabilisation right with 4k. the drift 4k looked as wobbly as that too, have to use 2.7k. drift had no interest in the fact the 4k footage is all over the place. crisp but hard to watch. in the app it said stabilisation on but in the actual camera settings il bet its not. shame.

Have seen another video similar to yours, and the mentioned how the drift footage seems to appear as though the bike is traveling really slow, and comparing yours and the front GoPro it does look like you were slower than you were actually going, when you cut in with the GoPro, what are your thoughts
