I think she exhausted all her options as the control panel was fucked up by wanda, also the ultron bots were all destroyed so the fire extinguisher was just a last ditch desperate attempt to break it not because she genuinely thought that it was the only way to release her.

Kevin Feige didn’t want Dr Strange to appear in WandaVision because his presence would overshadow Wanda’s “character arc”. He then decides to have Wanda overshadow Strange’s character arc in his own movie. That doesn’t seem fair.

I knew one of the writers on the first Dr. Strange movie, a guy named Carlyle. The dude hardcore pushed for it to be as comic accurate as possible and I'm pretty sure was the reason the first movie turned out the way it was. Unfortunately he 'stepped out of line ' and got canned so...here we are.

I didn't know Cargill had gone by Carlyle before you wrote this. Anyway, he also desperately wanted to make a Capt Marvel movie. Had a draft made and was told, in so many words, you're not a woman and we need women to write this so pound sand. Edit: also by "stepped out of line" it's probably more accurate to say he told the truth. On Disney was being accused of racism for casting Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, he mentioned that it was done because the character in the comics is Tibetan and that wouldn't work with China.

@@SpartanArmy117 I can agree with you. I can easily pick out my favorite parts right off the top of my head. It is a fun movie overall it's just when they force you to suspend disbelief for the most common sense things it is those moments that start to grind on our nerves. I agree with Drinker that they make Wanda out to be this tragic heroine, but it backfires with just how much of an asshole she just is. They sell her so hard to be liked for her flaws when you just can't with such bad writing towards dialogue that's so forced. In short, as I stated in my original post, I see and feel Raimi's direction, but the writing pulls it backwards from really going on an easily, and what should have been, a straight and narrow line. Personally, this movie is 2 steps forward, 3 steps backwards in comparison to like Black Widow THAT movie overall definitely was 1 step forward, 10 steps backwards. Sorry for the long response, btw.

The thing is Endgame had 10 years story behind it and seeing it ends was very epic. Although MCU was not perfect back then but it had some good movies such as Iron Man 1, Thor or Captain America. the difference is in the story telling and the characters they're building, in which, MCU does not miss any chance to fuck it up. You can clearly see it in Loki (the female one), Miss Marvell (or what ever!), Wanda or even their male characters like Spider-Man and Dr. Strange.

According to the showrunner, the intent behind that cringe line was misinterpreted. Allegedly, the point was that nobody will know the good you've done or the sacrifices you've made that broke you down to this point because they'll only remember the bad you did here. It was less of an excuse for her actions and more sympathy for the reasons she was in this situation in the first place. If we are to believe that this is what was intended, that's perfectly legitimate. In that case, however, it was still a terrible line that really poorly communicated what they were trying to say.

Well to be fair, she was severely corrupted by the darkhold. The movie clearly explains that book corrupts the minds of those who wield its power for too long. Doctor Strange knows her deep down that she's capable of doing a lot of good. It's like having a friend be severely addicted to drugs. It's also like that in the comics, she's morally grey and at times selfish but in the end she usually does a lot of good. She's also kind of like jean grey, good person at heart but often she's either being manipulated or her mind is clouded causing her to make mistakes and hurt people. In wandavision while she did enslave an entire town, she technically didn't kill anybody innocent and it was clear she was being manipulated by agatha in her grief.

Biggest plot hole for me was... Wanda is basically a walking reality stone. She got in trouble (kinda) because she took an entire town hostage. So to fix it she willingly dropped the reality bubble and yeeted her own 3 creations into nothingness. Then she secluded herself to some cabin in the woods. Sadly the only thing evil dead about it was Wanda herself here... She then proceeds to create ANOTHER reality bubble around the cabin so it looks pretty and has some of the biggest non-fruiting apple trees ive ever seen.... Without recreating her husband and 2 kids again. Why? She could literally just remake them at any given time but is like "nah, i need a different Wandas kids so i can take em dimension hopping for some chicken noodle soup and sprite when they get the sniffles."

I find it funny how all the 20th century Fox marvel leaders (Blackbolt, Mr. Fantastic, and Prof. X) were all in the same universe. And with Star Trek: Picard, he was totally on board with the show being all about THE MESSAGE, proudly stating in interviews that the show was going to be about Brexit and Trump. Patrick Stewart is also a hypocritical feminist who enthusiastically supports abortions, but he also dumps his wives when they get too old and replaces them with younger ones. His current wife is the same age as I am, and I wasn't even 10 years old when TNG debuted. Its a common rule in movies these days- There are no real evil women. They have all turned evil because of men. And even if women have to be stopped, they will be stopped by themselves and not by any man. They dont need to work hard to gain their power. They are perfect the way they are and they have all the power they need. No matter what they do, they deserve love and respect from everyone (peak entitlement). They just need to believe in themselves and stop listening to the toxic men. Other men losing lives trying to save the world is not sacrifice made by those men but sacrifice made by women because their feefee got hurt and they have to live with it. The new He Man or more like Teela Show, Captain Marvel, Mulan, Black Widow, these are the new archetypes of modern cinema. And it wont stop. Not only are they producing garbage, they are also making it important to ruin every other character that were well received by the fans. All their story arcs completely ruined. I've been reading John Byrne's Superman run lately, and there is an issue where Lex Luthor is trying to convince one of the soon to be New Guardians that she should side with him against the Super heroes. He tells a story about Superman fighting a villian named Combattor, and he frames everything that superman does as being selfish and self-aggrandizing, that he doesn't care about the people around him, he destroys property without a thought to who he might be hurting and how it will effect the city, and so on. And it hit me, Supervillians are now writing our superhero stories. The Heroes are being framed as bad guys and the bad people who actually do bad things are being portrayed as victims of their Tyranny. The People who do the right thing, who try to handle problems in the best way possible are now the considered EVIL, and the Emotionally unstable Jerks who act irrationally and actually hurt other people whether they have a reason to or now are GOOD........It's insane

@@fagarou two things can be correct at the same time. They may have used him for nostalgia in the trailers, but that doesn't take away from what has been done to his characters in the last 5 or so years. Remember one of the plot points of Logan was that Xavier was literally going senile and couldn't control his powers anymore. His character also likened his medication to chemical castration. His character Picard was also ran through the wringer as a sad old man who constantly was lectured and insulted. Now here he is again in this movie going through the same motion. Put 2 and 2 together. They did the same with Harrison Ford's characters. In Indiana Jones he was brought back as a divorced dead beat father. In the Blade runner sequel he was killed off; and in Star wars he was brought back as a divorced deadbeat father a second time and then killed off again. There is a pattern with Hollywood, recognize it. If it was only about sales and money they would have learned their lesson years ago with the all female Ghost busters reboot that flopped; and franchises wouldn't all be commiting ritualistic suicide all at once.

It would also allow new actors to take on Iron man and Captain America, Thor, Black widow etc as we all know the actors are tired of these roles. They could have changed their origin stories and do alternate histories. Like you can also have had the characters from the old universe make appearances and help out etc. I'm also thinking about it from a new fans perspective. They are the same in appearance and name only. Loki was emasculated from the get-go. As soon as they stripped him and put on the shock-collar and the power inhibitors, he was basically emasculated where the only juice left in him was to fall in love with a female version of himself which is in an of itself an "ew, gross" moment.

Apart from some cringe moments - the "music fight" was completely bonkers, for example - I enjoyed it. As was mentioned by the boys, the pace is _relentless_ and Raimi's vision is very apparent.

I feel like this would've been a whole lot better if they leaned off of the concept of the multiverse and the high from No Way Home and just picked up where the first Dr. Strange movie left off, just Stephen and Mordo with a full-on seizure-inducing magic deathmatch to see who's the better sorcerer.

@Jackson Davies | Digital Artist I don't see the contradiction. The first movie ended with Mordo being teased as the next bad guy. This was the same with Thor teasing Loki to be alive and The Avengers picking off of that with him being the bad guy in that movie.

I laughed so hard when Drinker said "Fuck off film" hahahaha. Everytime America spoke, it felt really stupid and forced. Like the blue haired girl from the last Matrix. But there were so many Sam Raimi-isms, and that's what i loved about the film. Black Captain marvel died because a stone fell on her. But before that, she just stoodby as Wanda killed her fellow Illuminati mates. They waited turns. It was so dumb. It was nice seeing John Krasinski as Reed, but unfortunately he died 5 mins later. Black bolt lost his mouth, freaked out and vaporized his brain and skull. It felt like Wong was the only good thing in this movie. Though everyone was acting really hard, but looked really tired.

When I watched this movie, I actually missed the opening scene and arrived only to see this giant tentacle monster chasing this girl in New York. So while I understood the general premise of the movie, I felt completely lost on how some elements came to be, such as the Strange corpse or America's power until they resurfaced later in the movie. And that is the heart of this film's issues in my opinion. Others have mentioned how this film feels like two different movies at odds with each other, the corporate Marvel superhero narrative that emphasizes world-building and interconnecting all of these different characters, concepts, and worlds and then there's this trippy, abstract Sam Raimi spectacle where we're seeing a self-centered asshole make grand sacrifices against unfathomable horrors. When it's Marvel, it's convoluted and heavily relies on your investment in this grander narrative of multiversal conflict. When it's Sam Raimi, it's all-consuming bleakness sprinkled with slapstick and tearing down the egos of these self-important "heroes." And based on the interviews Sam has given about the creative process of this film, it's painfully obvious that the people at the top didn't know how everything would piece together so they left it up to the director to make the most of their messy continuity. My only hope is that IF Sam winds up coming back to direct another Marvel project, he's wholeheartedly allowed to DIRECT instead of trying to jigsaw a narrative from the disjointed ramblings of corporate entities.
