Never knew so many people found the Gtr to be ugly until I read the comments below...

I know styling is subjective and all, but not sure how many people would find the VW Golf to be a better looking car over the GTR.

This is kinda like a grown up/modern day BMI/Hot Version American Touge battle, except they're driving the cars on the street in addition to setting a lap time. You guys at Drive need to try and make this a thing that happens on a regular monthly/yearly basis, and cast a group of tuners/privateers to come out and have you score their care, along with the street driving/track driving impressions. I really think you guys could capture a huge audience with this sort of thing and would be very popular, just like Hot Version/ Best Motoring Intenational used to do back in the day with the American Touge Battle.

That looks like a good build from HG and it has a lot of potential for more power with it having a good chassis and being a very capable car! Maybe the looks score was a little harsh!

Matt really doesn't like the styling of the GT-R lol. I love the look of them but i guess I'm just more into Japanese cars in general than Matt is haha

matt it just occurred to me how difficult the behind the scene organization must be for something like this. i know major car magazines have done similarly but it remains to seem like a daunting task especially for a relatively smaller web based auto publication. no comparison will please everyone but this is a great effort.

well stock weights over 1700 kgs, so first thing you do when you wanna tunning GTR is weight reduction ( back seats behind cage WHAT !) then you can think about "better components"

That cage to roof gap is terrible. The driver looks to be sitting above the cage line.

I can understand that some people don't like how a GTR looks, and I'm one of those people, but giving it 2/5 like you did is just pretentious.

A good paintjob would change the opinion of most viewers as considering it ugly . Just change it's colour... that's all it needs.

I just don't understand the fanboys. Why pledge so much allegence to a car you most likely do not own and have never driven? I understand if you are miffed as a GTR owner, but get over yourself. Not everyone has to like your car (or for the fanboys, your favorite car). Focus on the positives in this video: it's capable, streetable, and can set a wicked lap time. This is demonstrated by Leh's time and Matt's comments. Styling is subjective, yes. But there's no denying that it's a big and brick-like car. Just look at a profile shot of it. Matt is allowed to dislike it and voice his displeasure. I personally think the MKIV Golf is a better looking car than the GT-R. True, it looks less purposeful, but that generation of VW is a prettier car when all said and done (again, just opinion of a youtuber). Just because the GT-R is a purpose-built track eater does not mean it is pretty. The two are mutually exclusive. If you are overlooking every other aspect of this video - the production quality, the excellent commentary/driving, and the fact that these cars are all rounded up and showcased together in the first place - just because you don't like what Matt says about the styling of this Nissan, then why are you here watching in the first place? This isn't a place to sit around and circle-jerk about "lap times, bro." This is a rigerous comparison of streetable tuner cars featuring a multitude of elements. Period.

Stock GTR is fun, but wait until you go up against a GT mustang with built motor,suspension and nitrous. That cost them (total) 57k. You will get beat (not walked) street and track. Own a sc z51 now that is pure shit (garbage overheats, no traction, complete waste that still would hang with any z06 out there) and wish I'd never bought it. The _really_ good cars cost ~ 200k and have mc before the last 5 characters.
