and if, like us, you replace a "economical car" which only does 30mpg in real driving with an EV and can charge at home you save £1800 on fuel alone, plus our 3 months old EV is still worth what we paid for it according to Auto Trader, rather than the 20% loss just driving it out of the showroom. only needs a service every 2 years for £200 and probably will never need to replace the brakes. People who let their battery drop to 2% are the same people who drive on petrol fumes and run out of petrol

The bike vs Car argument given by “GhostRider” fails, but only because he didn’t actually tell anyone why a bike is better than a car, other than MPG.. which, well my depressing Ford Mondeo works car averages 64mpg and I can drive that in all weathers.. Where Ghost Rider succeeds however, is in telling us how Bike Riders are better than car drivers, Bike Riders do tend to be more vigilant, safer drives, who are very approachable people(I also know a lot of decent car guys/ girls who will chat about cars too) but I do agree that car guys, who also ride bikes tend to be more approachable generally. I do think cars are better than bikes and like Gareth Vans beat both 😂 drive in all weathers, harder to fall off 4 wheels etc.

If you hate rust, look at older european cars like certain audi, volvos and saabs the ones with the galvalnized panels and underbodies. Guys you need to swot up on EV’s! I did a 300 mile trip in my Model 3 the other day and charged for a total of 10mins. The car costs me less to own than my previous diesel 3 series whilst being far better and zero emission (charged with renewable electricity). Also the luxury car tax which you mentioned, which applies to cars over £40k, does not apply to EV’s. The battery will outlast the car barring and major failure. I’ll sell it when it’s 4 years old and it’ll make an excellent used buy.

Have to really question the figures on electric cars - the guy claims if you have a 50mpg car you will save £1k per 10k miles in fuel. If fuel costs £1.20 per litre (which it has been around that or less for the last few years), 50mpg works out at 9.16 pence per mile, or £916 total cost for 10k miles. As electricity does usually cost money (I reckon on a normal tariff you would be looking at around 3p per mile), this would be just £600 per 10k miles. However, as most people buy cars on finance, and EVs hold their value well, you can get fairly good deals on EV's and you wouldnt need a huge mileage to counteract the extra monthly payment.

@@daniluvsuall haha yeah I did wonder. I prefer the old bmw's, where the numbers on the badge actually represent the engine size. Got a e90 330i myself, but let's not talk about MPG 😂

Bruno Marski nice! It’s that lovely lump again. Is that pre-vanos? I would say even the 3 Series compact was guilty of that 😝 this is my first beemer but might be my last, the look of most of the new ones is pretty shocking and the new 1 not being RWD kills that for me

@@daniluvsuall its the n52 engine, has vanos. Supposedly one of the best engines BMW ever made for reliability and its oh so smooth as well. I had a 2019 g20 330d as a rental last year for a few days and boy was it nice. In white with black trim it wasn't too horrendous to look at either!!

You can buy a quality lock barrel for a very reasonable price in any home improvement store. And it really doesn't take more than 10-15 minutes for a complete amateur (like me) to change.
