When you get bored of regular supercars and hypercars, there exists a segment of street legal racecars like the Ariel Atom, Caterhams and this...the BAC Mono. Somehow still street legal, the BAC Mono is one of the most extreme vehicles you can buy. With hypercar power-to-weight ratio, a sequential transmission, advanced suspension and lightweight carbon fiber bodywork. These cars really belong on the track to explore their full potential, but as I did not have access to a racetrack...I decided to take this one for a drive on the road to see what it was like. It was...absolutely insane. A $250,000 toy that makes GT3 RS and Huracan STOs feel ordinary, the Mono was mind-scramblingly crazy. Plus when I took the car out, it started to rain. Enjoy this video of this insane piece of British engineering!

I think the Atom looks more aggressive, but I prefer the looks of this. It seems very futuristic. As a motorcycle rider, welcome to (some of) the joys of riding 😂

Do you have to use the clutch when you shift? I’ve watched Doug’s video and he said you have to use the clutch to shift below 4K but don’t have to at a high RPM was wondering if they changed that throughout the newer ones.

You use the clutch to pull away and if you change gear at lower revs, at higher revs you flat shift (up or down)

If you have driven an Ariel Atom, how does it compare?

Having owned both (and still own a mono), they’re very different. The atom is more savage in a straight line, the mono is far better engineered and is a much more serious proposition. On the track the mono is FAR faster over a lap. Both awesome cars though

That price tag is hilarious. From a company with no pedigree, no history, no proven track record of anything. Looks great…but so are many other prestigious cars in that price range. Especially when there is Ariel Atom out there with 1/3 the price and 100% of the fun. 🤷‍♂️

A mono is a totally different level to an atom. I’ve owned both and still own a mono. Once you drive a mono, you understand the price tag

The company may have no pedigree but when it comes to designing cars to go fast then the designers are as accomplished as any on earth coming from an F1 background. In terms of single seat road legal track cars tell me who does have pedigree? It's a tool for a very specific reason i.e. track racing with the added advantage of being road legal. No-one is advocating using it as a daily driver but if you want a car specifically for the track then there are very few as good and available for this price. The fact that you compare it to an Atom shows a certain level of ignorance which would be easily sorted out by checking how fast they both go round a track. The Atom doesn't come close.
