Jimmy; this is your coolest video, you are so fortunate to have a drone pilot willing to share his video, FAA rules & such. What strikes me is that you must be on the edge of your chart with the first piece, or you wouldn't be so close with the second. It is nerve racking to have such a large object that close to you & your rig. Nice job, great video!

The drones I see most people use is the Maverick MJ 3 pro. I buddy of mine that flys crops that's what he uses it can go up to 300-400 up in the air an out to 4 miles away. He can get up to 45 minutes on a calm day windy days 20-30 minutes. Put this is some good footage.

Hey Jimmie! The drone footage is a nice change of pace (not to say that i am tired of your other video formats). A drone offers a perspective that you can't get with a GoPro mounted to the crane. The balancing act, is the time it takes to become a good pilot, and the cost of the drone that flies well and has a decent camera. I have worked with a few drone pilots with work and some consulting that I do, and the good quality drones that have more that 20-30 minutes of fly time are $2500+. That fly time is also heavily dependent on the wind conditions, which you are probably not going to work in anyway. I have seen company's use drones for survey work, but the issue is the FAA licensing. My suggestion: do your research and if you want to get in to drones, buy a cheap one that has a similar control as what you will eventually want, and practice, practice, practice. The shots that make drone footage cool, are the moving shots. Which are the more difficult shots to pull off. Thank you for your commitment to improving your channel and educating us wanna-be's!! Just started watching your channel today; very cool. I don't know anything about cranes. Why do you extend your boom so far rather than booming down with a short boom & short cable? Doesn't a long boom & long cable make the likelihood of swinging greater?

Awesome perspective on the job! Here's a total newbie question: The boom is very extended and elevated. If I were a kid playing with a toy crane, I'd probably have the boom "lower & shorter" (if that makes sense). Obviously, watching this video, that's the wrong thing to do, but I can't understand why. Sorry for the question!

I do like watching the drone camera angles but I do miss the details of the lift that you would be talking about. If you could film it both ways and then do a voiceover during the editing process with some details it would be the best of both worlds. I don’t know anything about editing. Would that be a nightmare to do? When the guys with the ropes are guiding the load through tight spots does the hook pivot or does the wire rope allow the pivot to happen?

Great video. I've never seen a house set in this fashion. I've only seen them set using a spreader bar and then straight down to the base of the house. It seems to me you would be pulling in on the facial of the house. If I'm wrong please correct me.

:-):-) know you got the counter weights that you can't see from up in the air, but the shot of setting up to pick the 2nd half with e the volume of the house (not weight) had that look of if he picks it up he'll tip:-):-) how would you fly and crane together?

Is that the precast foundation system with no poured footings? We did a bunch. Several now leak flooding basement from water going under gravel crushed stone footer s. Not a good system for wet clay type areas. Nice video thanks.

Great drone footage. Like seeing the whole work site, but, it’s going to be hard for you to operate the crane and drone both. Perspective of drone is good, but, the sit of pants is more like it. The sit of pants shows more of you and crane working. Still a good video. Use your best judgment about a drone. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing Jimmy. The aerial perspective is always good. I wouldn't hold the drone stationary for quite so long, it would make a greater sense of action. A commentary would be a good interlude to the elevator music. Just my well ment opinion... Best Wishes... 😐

Jimmy, I really like the perspective a drone can provide. That said, I try to learn from your content. Drone perspectives don't have the important details, like working with load charts, measuring distances from the crane's COR to the load, using info from the crane's console to stay within load limits and catching swing. That's the stuff that makes crane work interesting and safe.!

That was great glad you were able to get that footage. That icon asking to be friend is on all the channels I sub too would be weary of it I know you aren't silly and may have twigged just doesn't seem right their is another one now appearing as well be on the look out Jimmy.

unfortunately flying a drone mat take as much concentration as operating a crane , you should reach out to Andrew Catamaran on his experience before laying down big money for a drone. By his videos he has experience running a crane and flying a drone at the same time.
