Dr. Rowe shows how to quickly relieve levator scapulae muscle tightness and pain.
The levator scapulae muscle is a common cause of pain in the upper back and neck, especially at the top of the shoulder blade.
What causes this pain is tightness and weakness in the levator scapulae, and the muscles that support it. To get quick relief, this video will be broken up into two separate parts to fix this.
To get the best results, make sure to go through both parts (and exercises) and use what offers you the most relief.
As a bonus, all of these exercises can be done at home and may give quick pain relief... even in as little as 30 SECONDS!
Watch now and get rid of levator scapulae for good!
Chapters:
0:00 Intro
1:12 Stretching Exercises
2:50 Self Massage (for Knots and Spasms)
5:31 Levator Scapulae Raise (Strengthening Exercise)
7:12 Shrugging Lift Off (Strengthening Exercise)

Yeah me too. Seems to be a common issue when you do a lot of keyboard and mouse work for me. But i found out that my left chest muscle and my shoulde were completly stiff and rotated into the chest. Even if i did streches and sports. Only really hard preassure with the ball and excercises to strenghten it help. Still working on it. But in combination with the hip streches, it prevents me from feeling like someone that is disabled. Good luck!

Wow! Dr. Rowe is GREAT! I didn't have any pain but did some of the exercises and massages anyway. I felt like I released some tension that I wasn't even aware of. As a former personal trainer and someone who's taken exercise classes for years with dancers, I know the importance of careful exercise and stretching. His instructions are VERY specific and he really stresses the importance of doing these exercises safely and carefully. If you know ANYONE who has minor issues with their back refer them here. Thank you doctor! 🙏🙏

Last year I started experiencing intense neck, shoulder and arm pain all on my right side. I stumbled upon this channel while taking a break off work and school. I tried different exercises and stretches but it was hard to pinpoint the pain because it felt as if it radiated across the entire right side of my body. I'm now a lot more active than before and a lot of my pain has subsided, except for the right side of my neck and the top of my shoulder reaching down to my rhomboid. When I lift in the gym my shoulder pops constantly and I'm worried that if I continue I could seriously hurt myself. I'm going to take a break from any heavy lifting and focus on these exercises and stretches for the month in hopes that I start to feel like myself again. This channel is amazing and should not be taken for granted. My suggestion for those who are in a similar boat as me is to be consistent in the exercises and stretches you've found helpful. It takes time, proper nutrition and technique to build up strength in your muscles and joints. If an exercise or stretch doesn't "FEEL" good, as in you feel your muscles activating while doing them relatively pain free than you may want to rethink your approach or visit your care provider and have them help you get on a PT plan that suits your needs. Listen to your body

OMG . You have only changed everything about my life. I've tried pills, potions, poultice, acupuncture and massage. For over a decade, been told my nonfunctional arm is because of neck injury creating grinding sounds in my shoulder and neck so loud that sometimes I'm unable to hear people speak. Doing neck decompression while doing these stretches had a neck pop that shot down the spine , across the shoulder to my elbow. Then passed out. 45 minutes later neck and shoulder grinding gone while feeling Life and blood flowing in. Why don't they teach stretching in grade school ??

This is the number 1 muscle I find I have to release continually on my massage clients -- prolonged forward flexion of the neck is really the bane of our society -- great video!

Amazing. So much relief from this. I have degenerative disk in neck and this helps more than anything I have tried. Especially love the strengthening exercises to help keep at bay. Appreciate your videos. Thanks for all you do!

@Matthew Wood, I had degeneration C6/C7, causing numbness and tingling in arm and fingers especially when I tilt my head back, is there anything you would do beside the exercise here? since you had disk degeneration as well. Can you share?

@@iuhnew KST (Korean specific technique) chiropractic is the only other thing I do when I have painful issues. It takes a couple weeks to get under control but then maintenance is important. I have degenerative c3/c4 .

I have come across this video by accident..and MY GOD how is it I couldn't find this in the past.....??? I have extreme neck pain for the last two years...after MRI, chiropractor, CT, and physical therapy nothing worked. stopped working out, got fat and learned to live with the pain. + a lot of money for doctors and clinics. THIS stretch just opened my range of motion in my neck by just 30 sec each side!!!!! I don't know you, but thank you good sir. I'll come back here after 2-3 weeks of doing this daily and let you know. Again, this pain relief is UNREEL. Awesome.

I can't believe it. I had an accident on Dec 2023 and this muscle hurts. I tried everything and didn't work. I just tried the first excercise plus the one with the tenis ball ONCE and now I can move my head. I know probably doing an exercise once won't provide a long-lasting cure, but it's an excellent start. Thanks for sharing this with the world, you are doing a great job!
