Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) is a mental condition in which a person is preoccupied with: Rules. Orderliness. Control.

I’ve been trying to find peace in the disorder but then it becomes too much and I rage out. Happens with my furbabies, I want them to do things my way but they are animals so their gonna do animals stuff, I tell myself it’s ok and it is for a while but it doesn’t last, it’s like it’s bubbling up and eventually it spills over 😮‍💨

Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder Diagnostic Criteria A pervasive pattern of preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism, and mental and interpersonal control, at the expense of flexibility, openness, and efficiency, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by four (or more) of the following: 1. Is preoccupied with details, rules, lists, order, organization, or schedules to the extent that the major point of the activity is lost. 2. Shows perfectionism that interferes with task completion (e.g., is unable to complete a project because his or her own overly strict standards are not met). 3. Is excessively devoted to work and productivity to the exclusion of leisure activities and friendships (not accounted for by obvious economic necessity). 4. Is overconscientious, scrupulous, and inflexible about matters of morality, ethics, or values (not accounted for by cultural or religious identification). 772 5. Is unable to discard worn-out or worthless objects even when they have no sentimental value. 6. Is reluctant to delegate tasks or to work with others unless they submit to exactly his or her way of doing things. 7. Adopts a miserly spending style toward both self and others; money is viewed as something to be hoarded for future catastrophes. 8. Shows rigidity and stubbornness.

Correct me if I'm wrong, please. It sounds as if Dr. Tracey said people with OCD had a more difficult situation than those with OCPD. It's true that some OCDP characteristics are more socially acceptable, but persons with OCPD or OCD can both develop very severe problems in their lives. We can't say one is worse than the other.

I do not have OCPD so I could not claim its not a problem, but the very fact that someone who has OCPD doesn't see their problems as a issue is in itself a RELIEF, with ocd its deep, dark and disturbing, and you will learn to hate yourself and feel so much false guilt every single day, in one of my worst episodes I stopped going outside at my worse, and spent hours googling things trying to find relief because i genuinely believed i Would be harmed if i stepped outside my front door.

I argue that OCPD is so myopic and self-centered that it misses the mark of excellence. But an OCPD person can only see their own limited view of the world, and attempt to discard the excellent work of others because it conflicts with the inner rules created to soothe the OCPD person's compulsion to be in control.

People with OCPD (in my experience) also don’t really think there is anything wrong with the way they do things. They also don’t tend to feel guilty/bad about inconveniencing others to accommodate them. I’m currently living with a lady with OCPD. It is extremely difficult and stressful. She is disabled and after work, I will have another couple of hours doing things for her which must be done her way. Many of these tasks are unnecessary (fixing rugs and blinds to be perfectly straight, daily vacuuming, etc.). She has driven away most of her friends and family, and I will be leaving soon as well to save my sanity. It’s really sad as she is a good person underneath, but her OCPD makes her very anxious, depressed, and unkind.

Hi my question isn't OCD I wanted to know if you can come off anxiety and depression medication and live a normal life
@TakeMeAWeigh
@TakeMeAWeigh Жыл бұрын
Does everything have to be a disorder? Sometimes I wonder what normal is anymore and if different is ok without it being labeled a disorder. That’s such a powerful word that I’m sure has a psychological effect on people’s belief about themselves. Just my 2 cents.

If you function pretty well in your life according to yourself and other people close to you then don't worry about disorders. Most disorders have to impact your life to a significant degree or you shouldn't have been diagnosed with one.
@flyingdino

The key thing is whether it causes issues or distress. If you don’t take off work because you like to always be ahead on bills, then cool. But if you never take days off, work while sick, cancel plans with friends or loved ones to the point of relationships faltering, and it’s all underlined with you being extremely anxious about money, that’s an issue. But both can look the same. It’s similar with intrusive thoughts. You can have one, go “well damn” and then move on because it’s just a fleeting thought. But if you ruminate on them, they are excessive, you purposely avoid actions that cause those thoughts, or think that they are directly connected to you to the point of distrust, it’s an issue A very thin line with some disorders too due to society, and that’s why sometimes it’s hard to really figure out what’s going on or if there even is anything going on!

You're asking if everything has to be a disorder- it doesn't. But you're watching a video based on psychology. It's a discipline that examines human behaviors with a focus of the human mind and how it affects functionality. A brain that isn't functioning "properly" is experiencing a disorder. But you could take that same set of characteristics and behaviors in ANY given situation and view it through a different behavioral science and get a different understanding/answer that doesn't end up labeling someone with a disorder. For example: Communication Studies. There are many different theories that have been developed which explain human behavior and social interaction without ever really faulting someone's wiring in their brain.

I have been diagnosed with OCD and have some traits of OCPD but I don't think I really have either. OCPD does have a lot to do with perfectionism which is a problem for me. But other parts don't fit.

i have ocd, adhd and asd, but the only thing that impairs my life the most is OCD, that shit made me not be able to even step outside my front door at my worst, Im quite thankful one of my episodes a year back ended when it did, because I started to become slightly delusional, taken me years to seek help but the way i always like to see it, if you experience ocd you will KNOW FOR SURE, which is ironic considering its literally a disease of doubting.

I think you should have actually stated what “OCPD” stands for. I read a lot about mental health online, but I’ve never heard of this before. I’m assuming obsessive compulsive personality disorder, I will have to Google it after this video, but my point is that you could have stated at least once what OCPD even is, especially if this is supposed to be an educational short. And if you’re using it as click bait to go watch the full video and find out, that did not work for me, just some constructive criticism. I will just Google it and go about my day, just wanted to let you know that being intentionally vague could hurt your channel instead of helping. ❤

PD is usually short for personality disorders. I probably shouldn't comment with some half info (not a doctor) but mental illnesses have some common categories. One is personality disorders. Another is mood disorders. Ofc there's more, but these two are often related.
