The 2022 Drum Fantasy Camp concert opened with a medley paying tribute to iconic drummers who passed since the 2019 camp. Mark Guiliana, Simon Phillips, Steve Smith and Dave Weckl took part in honoring: Charlie Watts, Ginger Baker, Alan White, Taylor Hawkins, and Neil Peart. The concert took place at Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, CA.

I was there, at that drum camp! Amazing to hear it live! The drum instructors, the band, just doesn’t get any better. Privileged to be there. My brother was also there and rode in a cab with Vinny back to the airport - special treat.

All very good, keep on good music, my son is a drummer too, he is just 13 years old and has now a very good experience in rock music.

Not many drummers ever lived can accentuate and add to Neil Peart's amazing drumming, but these guys make it look easy.

My three favorite drummers of all time are Weckl, Peart and Smith, so imagine my jubilation here. Simon and Mark fall high on any drummer's list as well for obvious reasons. Legends all.

I'll say this about age and turning the big 6-0 as of late. It makes you nostalgic very quickly and very emotionally. If mid-life crisis is simply that cliche they point at you when you hit 5-0, then reflection is definitively 60, if only to begin the true ascension into an appreciation for all things memorial. For some oddish reason hearing these amazing favorites of mine current play amazing favorites of mine past brought back some old, amazing memories, as well as some newly found tears of appreciation for what has carried me and held me upright throughout this life. I mean, Steve, Dave, Mark, Simon paying tribute to Charlie, Ginger, Alan, Taylor and Neil??? Man, if this is heaven, do NOT resuscitate!
