Apparently I was supposed to play "Panic in Detroit" and "Cracked Actor" together and I didn't obviously... and now I see why! That song really caps off and sends the album into the atmosphere and then it leaves Earth's orbit in "Time" .... just fantastic. What a pairing of songs! Bowie is a true artist. Mick and Woody just absolutely slayed in these two.

Cracked Actor’s still a perfect song to walk into a club on; Time, not so much, but it works well at 5 am when everything’s falling apart and you wish it was 1973 or 2033 or 6138. Pretty good year!

On his Glass Spider Tour Bowie with angel wings stood on the head of a giant glass spider while singing Time. Goose bumps. 60 feet above the audience.

I bought this album a few weeks after it came out age 13. I first played it on the family stereo in the lounge. The line "Time, he flexes like a whore, falls wanking to the floor" very nearly got me into trouble. Luckily, Mum was distracted and didn't hear it! Swear words were just not tolerated in the 70s....

When Bowie sung the song on NBC’s The Midnight Special he switched the word “wanking” with “swanking”. It is a fabulous (very 70s) performance 😊

Another reason for not splitting the listening to Panic in Detroit and Cracked Actor is that they were the last 2 songs on the first side of the album. Time was a perfect start to side 2.

Never apologise for your kids Lee. Time will tell you. Bowie's voice on "Time" is awesome, so very theatrical & full of passion & meaning. The Lyrics are some of his best. I must see if you have done "Golden Years", a very funky Bowie.

I’ve never heard these before… Cracked Actor is rocking. (Does he really say, “Suck, baby, suck!” ?!🤯) Bowie’s theatrics 👏🏻 It’s Herculean of Lee to do 6 or 7 videos a day… ! but it’s such a great variety of music.

Ha! Your daughter is stealing the show from Bowie 😅 But I do agree with you about people, ridiculously, polarising music. I'm a music fan. I'm not a music snob, and by that, I mean I love all types of music whether it's rock, pop, reggae, funk, soul, classical, folk etc. As long as it's good, with some melody. Keep on exploring Lee. You'll find plenty of gold nuggets in all genres.

@@L33Reacts “Time” is so theatrical. “The sniper in the brain.” Brilliant lyrics and themes and oh-so-true, all delivered with classic Bowie wit. It’s one of those tracks that are sort of fundamentally “right” on all levels for me ❤ “Cracked Actor” reminds me to remind you to check out Bowie movies. “Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence” especially, with Ryuichi Sakamoto. For lineups, you’re moving into Fripp territory with the Scary Monsters album 👍

You should check out Whomanfoursays, an album by Canadian singer Dalbello, where Mick Ronson co-wrote, played, and produced. I read that they had access to a Fairlight synth that none of them really knew how it worked, and they just experimented a lot. "Gonna get close to you" was kind of a hit

Yet two more classic songs from a classic album. If you ever get a chance.....it would be great to have a reaction to "Preparing to fly" by The Waterboys. The album its from is "Dream Harder" ...so different from anything The Waterboys had done before...or after!! It rocks.

There are 3 fantastic songs called Time, this one, Pink Floyd's Time and Time by Tom Waits. There are also 3 fantastic songs called I Want You (The Beatles, Dylan and Elvis Costello). Which is a interesting bit of music trivia I believe, but then again, maybe that's just me 🙂

There are tracks on this album that are the height of glam rock (enhanced by Bowie), especially the next track ‘The Prettiest Star’. If you want a real taste of pure glam rock and what the mood and scene was like in the early-mid 70s then you should watch ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’. Great underground film with fantastic music. Really low budget and tacky and absolutely seminal and ground breaking.
