I wonder what Ray had to get into his kit that he didn’t have before Korn? He’s one of those drummers that after I watch him play it makes me want to go play! I’m so blessed to finally have a kit back in my life after more than a decade!

The reason as to why his China is so high is that when he was young he was a Tommy Lee fan wanted to emulate him by having two red chinas set up on each side of him, but eventually, one of them broke so he centered it so he could reach it with both hands, and he’s been playing with it there ever since.

He's real good at splitting his mind and having one half do one thing and same for the other. I can do it but I rely on a lot of muscle memory. Some of the patters he does doesn't seem humanly possible, but then to shove it in our face he does the same exact thing again. Lots of hours.

Korn is one of those bands where I don't love their music, but I can respect the HELL out of them. They're all outstanding musicians and wonderful people in general, and their story is just inspiring; they all cleaned themselves up once Ray Luzier (who has never touched a drug in his life) joined, and a couple of the members have become Christian, which I think is really cool. A great example of what a rock band should be.

i LOVE LOVE LOVE ray but... if they ever make an Addams family remake i vote him as Fester
@vxrdrummer4 жыл бұрын
Ray is an amazing drummer and I watch his tuition videos, but from a mega Korn fan and a drummer, Ray is a pain in the ass to watch live when doing the old stuff. He takes away some of the groove that David added by doing too much, or not putting in some of the tiny but really really important parts. Even like 1 or 2 beat fills that he misses out, but then puts in 20 minutes of things that aren't needed. His own stuff is cool and he is sick, but after having seen him live about 20 times he drives me up the wall. The first album anniversary tour was hard to watch for me.
@aaryamannambiar66774 жыл бұрын
I agree, he doesn't stick to Silveria's original blueprint at all... Always trying to add new and different things. Some times I like it when he does it, but other times I feel he butchers the rhythm and groove of certain songs, like Freak On A Leash. However, that being said, I absolutely loved his drum work on Korn's The Nothing album!! He was an absolute beast there! And I must say, on some of the songs, it kind of reminded me of David's work on some of Korn's early albums. Overall, Ray is a great drummer, one of the best in the metal field today, but he needs to stop messing with Korn's early albums.
@aaryamannambiar66774 жыл бұрын
Also, Ray is more fun to watch than David. Ray is just so fun and energetic on the drums, whereas, David isn't all that much.
@vxrdrummer4 жыл бұрын
@@aaryamannambiar6677 yeah man. If he stuck to the way they were played on the records then I would be happy. Agreed on his own stuff though as the last three albums especially have been brilliant and his parts are cool. Now Head is back though it still cries out for that David groove in places, but Ray is so very very very good that we can let him off for being a bit straighter in his approach. I'm just jealous ha! Did you see the videos of Ray's drum tech standing in at a festival when he had to leave the tour? The tech played the old stuff great. Much more true to the record! Sometimes with how Ray is though, it becomes the Ray Luzier show and Korn were never like that. Just the 5 of them as a unit rocking out without all of the flash and showing off. If he played the old stuff better, again I would be happy with all that showmanship, but it just goes over the top when he isn't playing it right!
