Thank you to our patron Bruce D for this fantastic choice! I was so happy to see we were going back to this same concert we did last week and holy shi... Rockshow brings the house down in every way possible. That might be my new favorite song of theirs. Just so, so good. I need more now lol.

I saw him in Toronto back in 1976. Couldn't get tickets as the show was sold out. I told my girl that we are getting scalper tickets, cheap ones. I negotiated with a scalper two floor seats 8 rows back. The pair cost me $130. Back in 1976 that was a weeks pay for my nurse girlfriend. Sale price on the tix was $9.50 each. I told her I paid 40 bucks lol. But the show was unforgettable and Paul was in fine voice. When he sat with the others to do his acoustic part people were very emotional. Bluebird, Blackbird, I've Just Seen A Face and then made everyone emotional singing Yesterday. I will never forget it...

Man, I can't help but get excited watching this performance, it represents the best moment in Paul's solo career. He is the man who created Sgt Pepper and here he is playing the beginning of his album Venus and Mars using a similar concept of introducing his band, that energy and his voice are just abnormal. Furthermore, as a fan you have to know he was the Beatle who had the hardest time getting his career off the ground after the breakup of the Fab Four, but here he shows us again why he is a genius and why he is the KING OF THE MELODY. Please react to any other moment of that show, I bet you will love whatever is in that presentation.

Paul McCartney is the Greatest Songwriter & Singer & Performer of the 20th Century. That's not my opinion....that's Just The Way It Is. Prince comes a close 2nd. As a lifelong Beatles fan, when I first saw Paul 1990 (at the age of 26), I cried tears of joy throughout the entire 3-hour concert. I've seen him seven times since. The girl I took to this show (an old friend from High School and avid Beatles fan) had a firm grip on my right bicep when Paul started performing and tightened her grip at various points in the show. I had bruises on that arm the next day. In 1976, this was before Internet when you could get concert tickets. When this tour was announced I was visiting near Houston when I saw a list of tour dates in a magazine and the first show was Ft. Worth. I cut my visit short and drove to Ft Worth and after many attempts of contacting FM Rock stations, I got no info on when tickets would go on sale. I drove back to Tulsa University sad and walked in the back of the frat house and was immediately approached by a grad resident who offered me two Wings tickets for the Denver show he couldn't go to. I paid him the $10 each he was out. It always seemed to work out for me when I wanted to go to one of the Beatles solo shows. It was pure Fate.

I saw this show at Madison Square Garden in May 1976. Paul had not performed in the U.S. in 10 years, since the Beatles' last concert in San Francisco. You could feel the anticipation throughout the arena, and when the lights went down, the place erupted -- and erupted even more when "Venus and Mars" started. This is one of my top five concerts of all time.

@@L33Reacts The coolest part is that Linda was not a musician until she was with Paul and they decided to start Wings. "Magneto and Titanium Man" is a great gem from McCartney and Wings where Paul indulges in song his love for superhero comic book heroes/villains. Thanks, it's always fun to listen to any song from this album. Short story - I was concessions manager at several CNE concert events in the early nineties and while walking down a corridor to get from one end of the stadium to the other I see this golf cart coming towards me. To my amazement I saw Paul and Linda + the driver riding by just mere inches from me. In true typical Canadian fashion I put on my best smile and a nod as they drove by, and they kindly returned the gesture and then they were gone.

This was THE classic Wings line up ... Joe English was a monster on the drums. Jimmy McCullough was a hot guitarist but had a lot of trouble getting along with McCartney. Denny Laine somehow remained faithful to the Wings ideal for the longest - I guess he knew a meal ticket when he saw one. And of course, Paul and Linda made Wings what they were - the biggest band in the world at that time - 1974. This was a brilliant concert. My first major rock concert - Wings were sold out in Sydney in about 20 minutes. And that was before electronic ticket purchasing. People actually lined up at ticket outlets. My parents knew someone who worked for EMI and got a ticket to me for my 16th birthday, which was November 2, 1975. The concert from memory was November 9. And if you know your Beatles trivia, you might realise that the Beatles' final single, Now and Then ... was released - on my 64th birthday. 🙂

ROCKSHOW was initially shown in MOVIE THEATERS when it was released. That is where I first saw it then ( and I WAS at this same concert tour in 1976, in Detroit, I was 29 years old then. Much later it came out on VHS, and now you can get it on DVD now. "VENUS AND MARS" is from the "VENUS AND MARS" album. "ROCK SHOW" and "JET" are all separate songs, but in concert they played them all together. You REALLY NEED to do a REACTION to EVERY song from this Concert DVD "ROCKSHOW" FROM this same one you did here. ALL songs and performances are FANTASTIC on ROCKSHOW. WAIT until you see and REACT to "BEWARE MY LOVE," "CALL ME BACK AGAIN," "SOILY" (talk about hard rockin'), "BLUEBIRD," "MAGNETO and TITANIUM MAN."........ALL the songs from it, they are ALL on YOU TUBE, from this concert. I am on patreon, but I can't afford to pay for requests. I am so sorry for that. I am 77 and on Soc. Sec., so it's a little difficult for me. LOVE YOUR REACTION TO THIS, I have watched the DVD "ROCKSHOW" so much because it reminds me of what I saw LIVE when I was at that concert in '76.

I was 6 when the Beatles performed live on the Ed Sullivan Show. Although I'm 65 now, The Beatles, Wings, and the other boys affected my life seriously. I couldn't wait until they would perform again on some variety show, but it was not often. There was a cartoon created during that time, which I watched whenever it was on and always enjoyed singing along with the songs. I went to their movies and was just heartbroken when I heard they broke up in the summer of 1970. I wanted them to get back together, hoped that they could. When Wings began, I certainly enjoyed the music, as well as the songs of the others. They were the "Thing". I've not heard Venus and Mars in a long time and was wowed by it. Even at my age, I can appreciate a song more and more, if I continue to listen often. The musicianship is simply astounding. "Gods" of music, certainly. Thank you for the reaction. : )

I saw this tour in Atlanta in May of '76. First laser lights I ever saw and only the 2nd time to see a flown PA system. The horn section was a good addition on several songs.

Give us “My Love” please, Lee. It may be a little twee but Henry Mc.Cullough pulled off one of the most perfect guitar solos ever played; up there with George Harrison’s “Something” or Dean Smith’s solo on Beefheart’s “Further Than We’ve Gone.”

Bruce that was a real treat. There was such an explosion of musicianship and songwriting once Paul was freed from the shackles of The Beatles. Awesome video.

Recommendations: Again this is Wings over America. But I'm still pushing for live performances from 2000 onwards from DVDs "Back in the US Live (2002)". "The Space Between US" (2005) and Good Evening New York City (Citi field) (2009). This is the band he's still working with.

Saw this show at the Hordern Pavilion Sydney in November 1975. Best night of my life. 🙂 Dunno how Denny Laine lugged that twin neck guitar around all night. Those things are back breakers.

I know it wasn’t because of me that you played this but it makes me happy that I did suggest it to you. Pretty amazing stuff, what?

From the same "Rockshow" film, the encore finale, "Soily". Or the other encore, "Hi, Hi, Hi".

IN concert the opening of this show begam with yellow and red spots of light swirling all over the arena just like the yellow and red pool balls on the cover of "Venus and Mars" For years most of the McCartney concerts I attended had Jet as the second song in the show. That stopped around 2009. Guess he grew tired of it. "Those guys" were the four piece brass section he had. The next time he had brass musicians was the tours after 2018 following the Egypt Station album and he had three brass players

Wings was so vital during this period, "Venus and Mars, "Red Rose Speedway", and "Band on the Run" -- all great. Seems like I remember seeing Joe English's own band at Disney Land a few years later.

@louisdellavalle2159 I was at the show in Detroit in May, I had just turned 29 in March. Saw the Beatles twice in Cleveland, on Sept. 15, 1964 when I was 17 and then on Aug. 14, 1966 when I was 19. Still have my ticket stubs for both of them. They didn't come to Cleveland in 1965 because our MAYOR BANNED them after the 1964 concert!!

I remember going to Kemper Arena in Kansas City Missouri in 1976 to see the Wings Over America concert, I was very happy to se a Beatle live in my lifetime, I was 17 at the time and I had hope that a Beatle reunion would happen one day 🙄🤔

On the Venus and Mars album, the song Venus and Mars was a one verse introduction to start Rockshow. On side two of Venus and Mars the song appeared again with two more verses.

McCartney makes me happy, too.❤ You might like to check out "Goodnight Tonight" and "Coming Up" (studio version). They are not hard rockers, but they are so good. Funky as hell.
