I think it helps that he's such a fan of the show from jump, as is Matt Smith. Of course, he owes his marriage to the show, as well, on some level, lol. All of that said, David Tennant is a legend and a treasure and should protected at all costs, and should be in all shows forever. Along with Alan Tudyk and Peter Dinklage.

What is it referencing?

The first Doctor I remember bringing up the banana thing was 9. 9 talks about how the sonic gun factories were destroyed and replaced with banana farms. In person, he switched Jack’s gun with a banana. From then on, there’s banana references all over. 10 invented the banana daiquiri and in a later episode shows up with an unrelated banana. 11, I don’t remember that well in regards to bananas. I’m pretty sure they keep the banana thing tho.

Scotland is a part of Britain (the island that England, Scotland, and Wales are all located on), so Scottish people are British, just as English people are British. Both Scottish accents and English accents (the accent DT uses on Doctor Who) are British accents.
