So dandruff is actually a fungus over growth and fungus thrives on oil , natural oil or coconut oil so technically this will not be good long term ..

I have a question: i want to use tea tree oil for scalp. I have extra virgin olive oil and virgin coconut (solid) oils at home that we use for cooking. Which one of these should i use a carrier oil? I don’t need the roller bottle … thanks in advance

Coconut oil is the best option! Even if it’s solid, just warm it for a few seconds in the microwave or stove.

This is best for itchy scalp (hair) Coconut with Tea Tree OIl. I don't know how well it is for the face, but coconut oil should help!

I don’t believe this would help, I recommend a professional product intended for hair growth - I don’t have experience with hair thickening enough to know which products to recommend. This method is mainly to prevent and treat dandruff and flaky scalp.

I used undiluted tea tree oil on a dry patch on my scalp thinking it would help, it made the hair thin out in that area? is this because I did not dilute it?

That could be it! It would cause an irritation, which might have lead to the hair follicle being damaged, although I have never heard of Tea Tree causing hair loss, so it may be temporary. Tea Tree should never be applied directly to the skin undiluted. A carrier oil should be mixed with it (a drop of coconut oil or olive oil) if you are putting it directly on the skin or scalp.

I found this on google "A 100 percent solution of tea tree oil can cause scalp irritation such as dermatitis, which can make hair follicles swell and cause the hair to fall out". So i guess applying it directly irritated the skin and follicle and made the hair fall out there. Any ideas to help the hair grow back quickly? It's obviously very upsetting. I did discontinue using tea tree oil all together.

Sure, I just don’t know how effective it would be against dandruff, but it will help with dry scalp and dry hair.

I would only suggest twice a month - every other week - unless you feel your scalp needs it once a week. But twice a week might be too much.

A small amount of tea tree may be fine in shampoo daily but not a lot. A small amount of drops probably. I also suggest shampoo/conditioner already formulated with tea tree such as Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree line, it professionally formulated for daily use.

You may have too much tea tree in your mixture. However, tea tree does give a slight “tingling” sensation but if you feel it’s a little more to handle you can lessen the tea tree amount or just try coconut oil alone.

Sure coconut oil alone will help with dry scalp! However if you also feel your have dandruff then I definitely recommend tea tree! You can find affordable tea tree at TJ Max in the skincare section - sometimes for under $5

I don't believe it is wrong, it just may be harder to control the temperature so someone can easily burn themselves if they are not careful. But, microwaving does not change the oil's quality, in my opinion. However, the coconut oil can also be melted by putting the bottle in warm/hot water for a while, or on the stovetop. Coconut oil melts very easily.

No, Tea Tree is in a category on its own for anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. While lavender has its own uses, it would not help for this. You can pick up inexpensive tea tree even at TJ Max or local supermarkets in the beauty section these days, I got some good quality at my local Walmart recently near the natural health beauty items - like Burt’s Bees and Jason area.
