Pleasant, today is seen as weakness and stupidity. Synonymous with kindness. Tats the same people pushing pedo lifestyles in schools and shooting up neighborhoods. In this world today, you keep your word, you're seen as a chump and used accordingly. The reason this man's channel has exploded is because he's the exact opposite of this country. As for the employer that got rid of him for being g competent, that has been the norm since the 90's and the nation shows it. From. It's churches and corporations to the military and hospitals.

Sadly, no. It’s not that way. People have treated me like trash, use me for work, humiliated me, and all the works. Still happens. Pleasantries don’t come to you if you are a good, kind person. Pleasantries come from other people being a good and kind. I know from experience, and good kind people are rare, very very rare. However, being a good person despite horrible people and horrible situations shows resolution. And from experience, staying resolute like this is very very difficult.

I think being a pleasent person to be around is something different from always saying yes to everything you are asked to do. It's the other way around: The people who treat you badly and unfair are losing YOU and what you could have done for them. If family or "friends" treat you unfair then be on the lookout for people who acknowledge your worth. All the best to you.

Even people who try really hard and do right can have bad outcomes, there are external factors that can screw up even the best efforts.. It's not all about simple cause and effect and effort, there's more to it than that..

@Castle Hassall I understand the point you're raising, and I'm not trying to dismiss it. But I 100% disagree. On every path to success, there will be a road of trials. "...Whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself in a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.” That is road of trials. Do you hear it? There will be no achievement without struggle. It is not our fault which family we were born into, what life handed us, or what life didn't hand us. Life handed me childhood trauma and a predisposition for alcohol abuse. That's not my fault. But it is, however--- my responsibility. So, I went to therapy and rehab. I educated myself. I took responsibility for all of my life and all of my decisions. I'm now a very fulfilled and successful person. Don't quit on the road of trials. Keep going. If you're going through something tough right now, I'm rooting for you.

​@@CastleHassall Totally totally agree.What about those who suffer dibilitating desease through no fault of their own(and please no glib platitudes about how we create are own luck etc.)Our efforts are only half the storey.Yes you increase your chances by putting in a good shift....but nothing is garanteed.And I speak as someone who goofed off and still did ok because I eventually got lucky! by accident of windfall.Had to capitalise on that luck for sure.But would be real dero now but for it.✌️

@Randy Backgammon Both the circumstances and the outcome are irrelevant. The focus is on the effort. Are you doing the best with what you have? Are you doing your best in spite of what you don't have? If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl. But don't give up. Effort. Effort. Effort. Even when defeat is eminent. There is no guarantee of success. There never was. The point is, do not be defeated WITHOUT having made a valiant effort to the bitter end. Success AND defeat are both honorable outcomes. Notice how TR said "Cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat". The only thing I'm speaking against is the "good enough" attitude and a half assed effort. I hit rock bottom before I became successful. But even then, success wasn't guaranteed. Nor was I lucky. I just worked with what I had and didn't quit. And I'm still working. The rent is due daily.

@@MuleSkinnerWS Broadly agree with what you say bro.Particularly liked the bit about success not being guaranteed.Far more realistic than this manifestation thing where accordingly you only have to dream something hard enough for it to happen(which would of course lead to complete sosial collapse).The point I was trying to make was that conventional success,the kind that allows a 56 year old dude the time to smoke cigars ,drink coffee and delight in his large healthy family and(deserved)achievements is dependent on more than individual effort.Genetics,birth station, inherited talent and luck etc. all play a part and THAT part is unfair and undiserved.But I take your point about carrying on regardless because it seems to me the best any of us can do.✌️

So true. Be patient, look gently at the details, think for a few moments to take it in, relax your eyes, slow down, appreciate all the fun you're having, stare into spaces and defuse that devil in your mind, that was picking at you for some time. Stay really slow for the next few hours, in many of the things you're doing winding down, waddle when you're on carpet sometimes, tell people you're waddling. Have fun. And relax.

TRUE!! TY Dewayne.... There are repercussions for lacking good character. We DO reap what we sow! Moral to the story: Do the right thing. But so many don't know "HOW" to do the right thing these days. Or don't want to. It takes too much effort :( Seems like we're all upside down---what's right is wrong what's good is evil~ Folks are confused and ... Way too self-centered. Plus, don't care if they have a negative impact on others, by the way they behave. If only thoughtful and considerate behavior was a thing ? How much better the world would be! Let's all agree.... "It starts with ME!"

You’ve helped me a lot sir. Got me through a divorce and into my dream job, all in the space of a year. I wanted to give up worse than I’d ever wanted to this past year. Thank God, my friends, my family, and you that I resisted those thoughts. Things will never be the same, and the future is always uncertain, but I am proud of who I am, what I’ve learned, and what I’ve accomplished. My late grandmother always said that angels are people who show up in the lives of other people who need them. You were one of mine, and ever since I’ve tried to be that person to others.

There is this two terms in Economics, explicit cost (money, getting fired, breakups) and implicit cost (networking, friendship, opportunities) I think these terms will help explain this video a little bit better. This video has helped me today, I do thank very much for the effort behind all of your videos

This lesson has such broad application. It applies to my illness to health journey. If I skimp today on bettering my body I may not end up in the hospital, but I'm also not feeling my best or building my health which robs me of energy, time and smiles today and down the road. "Life is a series of networks"... Preach it, Sir.... The band I was in for my photo was the result of consistently being nice to a woman at a convenience store 14 years before this photo was taken. Through her, I joined her husband's band. Through it, I met. Through it, I met. Through it, I met. By having positive connections with everyone and still being able to hang out with everyone along the way, I ended up in a truly great band that was doing shows in an area that was 3 1/2 hour drive E2W and 2 1/2 hour drive N2S. It's all about the connections.

I'm not a horse person, but someone from another channel took a small segment of you dropping one of your precious pearls, and made it into a short.. So here I am, a firm fan, one video in.. Another way to see it is that networking and connecting with people can create circumstances. So consciously deciding to create circumstances for yourself is a very useful skill and once you are good at it, you can put yourself around people who can help you progress in life and create situations that can lead on to more results of circumstance. Learn to create circumstances that put you in situations that could benefit your choices.

Great video as always! There's a term for this in economics: implicit costs. You may not be actively losing something, but you sure are losing something without even knowing it.

This was completely needed for me. I have honestly held on to something’s because I was frustrated that there wasn’t any tangible repercussions of people who wronged me. I can relate to the same story. There’s a person in my workplace who never said thank you when other people did him a favor. There’s no active direct repercussion against him because mostly we tried to be polite, but almost everyone who had this experience from him felt reluctant to put full effort when helping him the next time.

What a great message. Most people do not think about what they miss out on themselves for not treating others well, or even being minimally courteous. But what's worse, they not only don't think about what they're missing out on with their own potential, but what they fail to provide others to their potential. The younger generation seems to feel no need or desire to connect with anyone. They seem so isolated in their own endeavor. Never thinking there may be others who are willing to help if they showed any personality or desire to connect even the slightest amount.

As a growing youth, God knows how true that last part is. And I always get a little scared about reaching out to other people because it’s so uncommon, but maybe that small connection is just what we were missing and didn’t know it.

You sir have a knack for critical thought. I believe that many people either have or lack the things you are speaking about because it is a result of their character. An empathetic individual is more critical of themselves for example and a narcissistic individual will be more critical of the world around them. This is true life wisdom and very well put. Only in old age, with time for hindsight and regrets is this usually appreciated, if only life had a reverse gear, but it doesn't, modern life has people rushing round often multi-tasking and the simple truth is that we need to slow down and consider our actions and those we care about.

My experience as a video production company taught me some very important insights one of which is: some of us need to learn to get out of our own way. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. I once produced 13 episodes for a hunting/fishing/camping outfit. The owner came to me after a large media company saw some of the episodes and was interested in developing a similar program for their viewers - and they wanted to hire him and his crew to produce a show for them. So he contacted myself and two other companies to develop and produce a sample video under the prospective company’s directions. We all agreed to wave off our usual fees pending the results of acceptance/rejection of the sample. A timeline was set for the sample. The week before our meeting presentation the guy we were helping develop the concept left town was for a hunting opportunity. Without him we couldn’t finish the presentation since he had not been available for the shots we needed to have of him in the video - he was the “on air personality” required by the company seeking the presentation. In the end the opportunity was lost. It turns out the real reason this guy went hunting and failed to show for his part of the presentation was his fear of success and how his life would change. Although myself and the other two companies involved missed a great opportunity, we all agreed to eat our losses. You win some, you lose some in this business. We collectively understand the fears people have and how they get in their own way. By the way I especially appreciate the cigar segments you include in your video. I switched to your cigar provider and have been pleased ever since. By the way…you and your wife are good video producers Keep up the good work. And thank you…

What I think of is “opportunity costs”. The cost of something you DIDN’T do/get. Like you could work 40 hours a week, or you could spend that time with family in a vacation whichever option you choose, what you don’t choose is the “cost”.

Another excellent video D’Wayne! This video that you made reminded me of how my parents got along with others. My mother tried to be supportive and encouraging, but she stopped because of my father arrogant, sloppy, disrespectful, and careless behaviours. I always knew they never connected on a spiritual level; even though my dad never saw it. To a certain extent, I was also very patient and kind to him for many years, but I gave up on him as well since I could not stand his stupidity and hypocrisy. I’ve passively ignored him for several years now, and couldn’t care less about him. Now he wonders why nobody cares about him and why he has all sorts of financial problems/debts that he cannot pay off… It really takes a spiritual understanding of life in order to grasp many moments or challenges we face.

Your videos are all the more special to me as they remind me of the lessons my father tried to teach me years ago, though I was too immature and selfish to listen. I have seen far too many examples of "nice guys finishing last" to know that often what you put into something doesn't do you a lick of good in the end. Sadly I saw this happen when I was taking care of my elderly parents at the end and an older sister came in like the devil to cause havoc for all of us.

Being the nice guy doesn't mean letting people walk all over you, I find being stern but fair and always doing the right thing seems to work, especially for my own peace of mind.

It does suck though when you put in your all for one thing, not realizing that you are actually making something else much worse because you're not seeing the full picture You can screw up once and try so hard for so long to make up for it but sometimes you just have to learn to let go... It wasn’t the main point of this video, but the example you gave about the place that you would not last because of your competence is true, have seen it many times. Sometimes people like to surround themselves with those who make them feel better in comparison , and eschew those who present some kind of competition. I have studied this topic in organizational behavior.

I think the lesson about passivity is also in reference to improving your own life: your life won't get better if you are not putting effort into making it so. I have an asphalt company and just because your not getting 1 star reviews on google doesn’t mean if you do people wrong then you won’t pay for it by either not being called for repeat business or you miss out on a huge job that’s friends with the person you done wrong and you’ll never even realize it. Try to do people right but there’s good people in the world still and if you piss them off and they don’t call and cuss you out or put you on facebook doesn’t mean your not gonna pay for the bad job

A personal antecode: I was very lonely during the COVID Era. All my family was in different locations and I didn't have any friends close by. I had some co-workers and acquaintances, but politics and high emotionality (drama) was preventing those relationships from being any more. I took many walks around my neighborhood. I always have, and during COVID it was hours long walks. Then one day, one of my neighbors I haven't met before was sitting on his porch making something. I watched him for a minute, then called out to him about what he was up to. He invited me over. He was an older gentleman making some jewelry trinkets. I'm usually a listening kind of person, so he starts talking and telling me stories, and I'm happy to listen and keep him talking. I happened to mention wanting to go rock hounding, and having trouble doing so since I live in a city and people are not interested in doing something like that without making money from it. Well, turns out he does rock hounding, and crafts much of his jewelry from it. He has enough material that his whole yard is filled with extras he gives to kids or any body who wants to learn. I got invited to go rock hounding with him and he was happy to teach me what to look for. I made a friend, exactly in the low drama and low politics realm I wanted because I made an effort to keep being physically active and curious about people. I know someone who was a lazy and selfish kind of frie d. Made little effort to contact people, just went outside and expected people to invite them out. COVID hit, and then they had no contact with anybody. Most of their friends moved on, including me. They are one of those politics and high drama people, and I can tell that habit has developed badly enough they can't really make friends now. We've talked a lot recently, and they are trying to get better. There is about 3 years of bad habits catching up to them, and will probably take them many more years to just recoup from all the bridges they burned. Your videos have been great because as I've been learning and listening, I'm more able to help them as well. I send them these videos, and they are on a better path now.

I imagine there's a lot of people who are doing the right thing but aren't seeing any results and that can make you question the process.
