Dual CB750 first starts! Which bike will start first? This video is all about two CB750s we have been working to revive and get back on the road. Mine is a 1976 mild chopper build last ran around 1997 and Seths is a 1973 with a few modifications on it he intends to ride daily. We have both been working on these and unintentionally have them at the same point so we made it a fun competition to see who could get theirs started in the least amount of kicks. Who gets the Blizzard?

Hey BJ, man your CB750 chopper is a big wiff or dejavu. When I was 18 or 19 I bought a 72 750 with 6 bend pull back, sissybar king/queen seat ( that I took the fabric off and cut off the sissybar and folded the cover under. My friends called it "The Amputee") and stock exhaust, and extended forks. However unlike your plan I couldn't wait to cafe style the bike. Over the years that I owned the bike it turned into a really cool sleeper/rat cafe bike. I worked at bike shops all during my youth and one of the service managers I worked with used to work for Yoshimura. He sold me a full race Yosh top end with pistons, titanium cvalves, valve springs, and a set of 29mm Mikuni smooth bore carbs ( THE go fast set up in the 80's!!). When I put that in I prted the head. I added a small cafe fairing. The only thing i needed to do that I didn't was put in a clutch. It would spin the clutch when ithit the powerband. I was fast!!! My neighbor worked in a body shop and painted the tank and side covers a beautiful midnight blue pearl. Anyway thanks for all your vids and get to work on the CBX!!!!!

The best of motorcycle culture on display here. Your willingness to show mistakes and corrections, how to actually attain success, and the joy that overwhelms you when reaching proper ignition. How could you not ride a bike that has risen from the dead?! A master and his pupil, absolute gold!

Well that means a lot thank you! I really enjoyed this one as we got to show a simple mistake and fix in real time. The kicking may have been boring but there was reason for it. Hopefully it connects with people

I revived a '74 CB-750 that had spent 12-13 years slowly sinking into the ground and had sage brush growing through the wheels. It was a cool windy day when we cut her free and brought to my 'garage'. As it warmed dozens of wasps started waking up and coming out of the exhaust. A lot of them! Threw the doors open, pulled the mufflers and outside they went. I pour ATF oil into each cylinder and let it sit for day then slowly turned the motor over with the kicker. It spun just fine! Had compression and spark! One of the saving graces of that bike was that when it had fallen over the huge Windjammer fairing covered most of the tank and engine. The gas tank was in pretty good shape but the petcock was toast and was replaced, fuel filter, new plugs and within 2 weeks it was running and purring like it was meant to be. The points were almost in pristine condition and the odometer showed 11000 miles on it. It was ridden locally for a few years and then sold to a guy in Leavenworth, WA. In my 60s now, over the years, I owned 23 CB-750s( a couple were parts bikes mind you) and I wouldn't hesitate to hop on one and ride around the world(properly set up). Thank You for posting this video. Bought back some great memories.

Those old girls remind me of the days in the mid 1980s when I was working as an engine rebuilder in a (mostly British) bike repair /custom shop. Among all the many dozens of Triumphs and BSAs I restored were a handful of Honda 750s (including one for myself, which I still own!!) and one Yamaha 750 Triple. (An interesting engine!) BJ ~ I can't thank you enough. ~. The oh so sketchy sounding story behind my 2003 750 Night Hawk in West Virginia actually has become a true story. The bike did stay off the road since 2007 or so. Was actually a 1995 model. The local Honda dealer did run a VIN with the original owner's name from 1996~1997 on an inspection report and I have a connection for a new key. Just got back from HF for bolt extracting stuff. One is off the other is stripped and stuck. One bolt stripped one bolt loose is what I found. The keyset removal for the locksmith is where I am at now. A nice note from our local Police Chief for another VIN report. (I now have two of these) and so I am building a case for the DMV. But so far NOT STOLEN or otherwise. I so so appreciate all the work that you share here and your support. Just great. 〰✨〰 Thank you from New Hampshire.

Auuugh. Flashbacks to nightmare stall outs in rush hour traffic first thing in the mornings on my DR350S, which took conservatively, about 100,000 kicks to restart when it was luke warm. Cold was fine, hot was fine, but tepid? oof. Loved the bike, but between the Satan himself disguised as a motorcycle seat discomfort, and the heart attack inducing exhaustion and anger from kicking for bloody ever, I was the least sad I ever was, to get rid of bike, lol

Does the chopper 750 still have the stock kickstand? Back in the day when everyone wanted a 6" over front end, we realized the kickstand was virtually useless unless you parked on a hill and used bumps or a block og wood to park on. Or you cut the kickstand and weld on an extension. Ah the dilemma of chopper life.

It's the stock length stand so it has that required chopper lean. Still stable though!

What was all the smoke coming out of the first bike? how did you know it wasn't a bad thing?
@BrickHouseBuilds
@BrickHouseBuilds 3 ай бұрын
Well when starting up an old bike I expect smoke. We had put atf and oil in the cylinders so that was getting burned off. There also could have been oil in the pipes that needed to burn off. The smoke stopped after it reached full temp but if it continued like that for a while I'd assume there could be an issue. My 75 that was seized smoked worse at first and then after 100 miles it stopped completely.

Re oil. I have a '76 Z900 and I use a mineral diesel oil in it and change the oil every 1.500 kilometers. These engines as with the CB 750 were designed in a different era. From my experience using synthetics won`t give any significant benefits
