I know, it didn't feel like that with Yu VA though, and he talks a lot less than Ren, but then I remember that Yu VA also dubs Adachi. And it fit them both very well, but with Ren idk what to feel.

that's what they do in the anime adaptations of persona games like in Persona 3 movie where they really showed Makoto Yuki and Ryoji's friendship like they hangout, go to part time jobs, attend club activities and more. Because that part of the story was when Makoto Yuki is wavering after the turn of many events, Shinjiro's death, Mitsuru's dad died when they thought they just finished the dark hour, it showed how Ryoji made Makoto Yuki feel better or find his way back to his teammates.

@@giahuynguyenkim6389 How so? Akechi wasn't a "REAL" detective, the only cases he ended up solving where the ones he himself committed. He didn't really needed to do this.

I think its like how another person in the comments pointed out, it gives it a little bit more life. Maybe thats because most of us don't even speak Japanese, but I find it better with the dub and actually interested in watching it, even though its not the best.

I agree, the voices and the playful dialogue seems to give the characters a lot more personality compared to the Japanese dub. The japanese wasn't bad, but it felt like they were just reading from a script most of the time and being very literal.

persona series is the only japanese game that made me more comfortable hearing it in english...idk for persona 4 golden i know it japanese game in japanese town but the background song make it more matching with english dub for me at least.

Yeah, i think the dialogue, the scenes, and the characters' personalities are much better here than in the original game.

I honestly think spinoffs like P5:DS or MM give Ren more characterization than it's own anime

^ the in-universe explanation is Akechi’s left handed. He shoots his gun left handed as well. But it also works in this case to represent the duality between them

@@dawn_of_jiub Also plenty of people prefer to use their non-dominant hand for certain physical tasks so that any kickback or misses aren't debilitating. If you're a lefty and shoot with a right, if the gun misfires and you get burned or sprained, you can still do other tasks.

Even still it must have not been a very good one because if you hear the game and then this you'll hear the difference plus if you listen to the Japanese dub you'll hear the difference

It's funny because both Majima and Akechi both have Goro as a first name...I think. Japanese is weird sometimes.

@@wanderingmarshadow it's the localisation's fault that people confuse the first and the last names of characters. It is actually Akechi Goro, not Goro Akechi. Localisation teams are just trying to make it easier to understand the names for western audience, but imo they just end up confusing people sometimes

If you play the game, it’s best to do royal as it fixes some issues that the og has. But man does the dub come through in this animation. dubs for the persona games and anime’s always make them much better than the Japanese ones, also helps my eyes as I can’t go back and forth in anime between subtitles and what’s going on
