Dubious Depths (R2) Level Showcase! (Classic sonic simulator V11)

Hey! Recently I decided to recreate Dubious Depths (aka R2) in this little Roblox game called Classic Sonic Simulator V11. Also before you tell me in the comments, I know lots of it looks kinda jank. Basically all of the sonic cd assets had to be added in post (title and end cards, time travel, custom hud etc) because Classic Sonic Simulator doesnt have any of it in its editor yet, but I tried my best to add them in so please forgive me for how bad the robot generator looks I tried my best with my little mobile editor 😅(seriously devs, at least lemme use the sonic cd title cards without having to edit one together myself XD)
In total this level took 6 hours amd 2 minutes to make, amd thats not even including the time it took to record and edit all of it so a like would be appreciated. Also sub if you wanna see more of my cool levels cause im gonna be making more probably.
Credits to ‪@colterex‬ for letting me use their DD past music for this video, I’m fairly certain there aren’t any official sources for DD past so I just tried to find the most accurate sounding one there was.
As for the other Timezone tracks, present is little planet from sonic cd and the others are pulled from Sonic Stream and Techno Power Mix (some old sonic cd medleys Sega made in the 90s that might have contained the unused tracks in parts of the song)

Classic sonic simulator only allows for me to tint the level colour with an rgb value or switch though a few select styles. If I made it black the sludge would have to be dark goop too and I think that would look weird.

That would be cool, but I feel like the mechanic would be very under-utilised because of how long it would take to make 4 versions of the same map

@@TheMiningMeteor well what if you could choose how many u could use, so if u wanted to use only 2 then itll be 2 zones! It's a bit of a rough idea but with proper effort it could turn out to be amazing!!

@@ultramalaki maybe it could work if it automatically copied the level 3 times to just have all 4 versions as the same base, then you can edit them individually or something. I feel like the only problem would probably be loading times.

If I had some developer skills, I would just create 2 event objects (time travel sign past and future) That would work like in sonic cd. In Sonic CD, the level design doesn't change too much. So, I think that giving this event object options that could only change the level design texture or rgb would be enough for the sonic cd enjoyers, basic player creators and for developers that don't want to deal with option to create another level layout for your zone. Maybe give it an option to change the rbg of the character and background with rgb as well and you're good to go.

I guess, other than the obvious ruins (as this is supposed to be based off of Marble Zone) this is also a jungle. Of course, you can only work with the tools given to you, but here's what I would do if I could: Past: There's clean water in the jungle, never deep enough to actually work as a water level. Plenty of trees, you can even see their roots in the ruins. Present: Robotnik already started destroying the jungle, so less trees and the water is replaced with hazardous acid. Good Future: As seen from other KZfaqrs, the jungle is now preserved in hydroponic domes. The ruins are repaired and look more like Marble Garden than Marble. Bad Future: Machinery overtakes the jungle, not a single tree is left standing. The ruins are crumbling away and are filled with acid.

No, this is in V11. I added in the time travel by making 4 seperate versions of the level and then just editing the clips together

Thanks! I just use splice on my phone, and I edited the sonic cd assets in just by putting them over the original ones, like putting the P and F life counters over the original.

The music was edited in, cause it’s really difficult to get audio balancing right since you cant edit a track once it’s uploaded. Also I didn’t make the past version, the person who did is linked in the description so you can go there to listen to it.

I based it off of only the most concrete evidence we had, which wasn’t much. Just a level name, music and one piece of concept art of little planet. It’s kind of my own original take but I tried to stay faithful to what we knew

But yeah if ur making a act 2 then use Labyrinth zone in dark blue background and act 3 should aquatic Ruin Zone with blue moutain

I think I did try using the labyrinth zone background for the inside at first, but I couldn’t get it to look right because of the way CSS colour tinting works. Also I usually don’t do 3 acts for levels because a second act already takes a while to make. Just this one took 6 hours excluding all of the editing time.

The music was edited in, because the roblox music system is way more annoying than just editing it in, because it’s hard to get the audio balancing right without uploading the same track like, 6 times. I’ll have to get back to you about the bg tint colours later cause I need to go to school, but once I’m back I’ll let you know.

@@kellyshort6392 so for present it’s colour 86 130 131 tint 65 100 185, for past its colour 0 34 34 tint 190 50 200, for bad future it’s tint 255 100 100 and for good future it’s colour 192 96 32 tint 255 230 0

How did you find words “Dubious” and “Depths”? And how did you put music that isn’t in game? Also I am not sure, was message “Dubious Depths had parts of Little Planet music” real or fake? I still think that it should’ve been Desert Dazzle music. Little Planet music feels too tropical for underground level.

The title card was custom made and edited in, and the music was also edited in. The little planet ost has been confirmed to be the music for dubious depths though.

Im a bit impressed and quite disappointed with this level The level itself, along with its other timezones, actually looks quite bad since they lack quite a lot of detail and are short. However, the editing tries to save it, and i will say, the editing isnt really saving the level or its timezones really. So much more detail could've been added and the level couldve been extended Overall rating: 4/10 (Note, I did not know this was in V11, and I do not know anything about V11 because I started playing in V12)

Yeah, I will say this level doesn’t really hold up to v12 stuff. The reason it’s so short is because I had to remake the level for each Timezone so I could splice them together
