Ducati's Scrambler has been a hit bike. With styling throwing back to an era past, where all bikes were used for all types of riding, does the Ducati have the potential to survive more rigorous riding? Would it be for fit for travel?

This has to be the most down to earth and honest review. The presenter doesn’t the usual ego that goes along with reviewers and the background track isn’t crappy garage rock for once. I really enjoyed this, thank you!

I own the icon dark which minus a skid plate and that raised front fender and head light guard(which can be added) it’s the same bike and I love my bike so much

Can you get any of the enduro features like the engine protector put on the smaller scrambler like the 62? I'm liking this bike but I want something more like 4 or 500cc

For sure Ducati scramblers are pretty nimble and have that stripped down cool factor compared to poofed up factory adventure bikes that are uncomfortably close to ugly. Huge adv bikes are Winnebago-ish fat hogs IMHO. Triumph scramblers are also great looking and SOUNDING bikes but a little heavier. Heavy means anti-scramble, stuck in a ditch, hard to stash at night on road trips. That's what I hate about slobbish, huge adv pigs. Riding around Thailand, Laos, Burma, VN.. get in some rocky stuff, better have enough suspension but weight and hugeness is a mood killer. Add slippery and steep to rocks and ruts .. weight morphs into the enemy.

Good review. I wonder how reliable they are. My perception of Ducati unreliability is interacting with 'made in Thailand' to produce doubts in my mind.

+1990 We think that's a unfair judgment. Ducati has improved this stuff hugely in recent years and being made in Thailand doesn't determine if the factory and materials are good. It's limited in reality because the bike isn't intended to be battered, but it'll muscle through. :)

I keep reading how Ducati have improved their act in recent years. I also keep reading about problems owners have with modern Ducatis. It may well be that because of its simplicity, the Scrambler will be the most reliable Ducati yet, and although the model being made in Thailand doesn't affect the materials and hopefully the factory, Ducati will have to make sure that their newfound improved image transfers to their plant in Thailand. There's no reason why this shouldn't happen. You only need to look at the Japanese cars and pickups manufactured there that perform faultlessly (ditto Honda and Kawasaki motorcycles) to realise that it's possible for Ducati to maufacture reliable bikes there. I'm just concerned, that's all, because if I could be convinced about these bikes, I'd buy one (I'll be living in the far north of Thailand from early next year).

1990 New Triumphs are also built in Thailand and I can confirm, the quality is spot on. It’s way improved over past generations. So yeah, if anything, these new Ducati should be more reliable.
