I still can't tell geese and ducks apart, unless it's a mallard duck :(
@battlefoxx2 жыл бұрын
when in doubt, it's a duck....there are like a billion more ducks than geese, so...the odds are you will be correct.

Thank you. While my husband and I have a lot disputes about goose and ducks, and I simply call them all of ducks, now we know the difference 😂😂
@battlefoxx2 ай бұрын
Well, there you go. When in doubt, just call it a duck and you are probably more statistically right.

Maybe eye of the beholder? But, I have heard of Swan Lake but not Duck Lake.😀

Enjoyed your feature presentation😉 I learned some things. So the Egyptian goose isn’t really a goose at all? Why not call it an Egyptian duck? Does it share borderline characteristics or something.👍

I suppose it's a really old species of duck, then gone through a lot of domestic breeding...now, it looks like a goose.

Theres alot of Canadian geese around Cincinnati Ohio, the Licking river and the Ohio where the two rivers meet. There's a park where you can go facing the Licking river adjacent to the Ohio river and when you go park there the geese and a little group of ducks will just suddenly surround your vehicle, if you are the one that brings snacks for them. Idk how they know the difference between each car and know your the one who always comes with treats for them, but they are smart and we just don't give them enough credit for how intelligent they all are. I have watch other cars pull up and I watch from a distance before going over there because I wouldn't get a good look how they know because they would flick around the car, but they don't even attempt to go over to them. I watched for awhile seeing cars come and go then when it was alot of cars down there then I came down to the area. I drove up and I haven't even got the car in the parking spot and I could hear them honking and quacking loudly! It's amazing how they can pick out your car from all others and know you are the one who brings food for them. Also I tested them by driving a different car none showed until I got out and I made side I didn't have anything in my hands that would alert them to me, and they recognized me, came over! Wonder what other birds that can do that also. Be that smart? Knowing the difference between different humans and go to that one in a group?

How fun. Mockingbirds and hummingbirds are really good at recognizing the same humans, other geese, too.

probably far too many, especially when they leave their dropping on the putting greens

It's funny, I'm preparing to make a video on this animal with my miniatures, so I came over to this channel. I'm trying to compare these to my miniatures and it is still hard to tell.

I think the easiest (but not always 100%) is the length of the legs - the ducks typically have more squatty legs with floppy feet

very good lecture but i don't want to memorize them all lol
@battlefoxx2 жыл бұрын
sorry...but, it is sort of what happens when you see these birds every day. Thanks for the comment.

@@battlefoxx I like the way you name their kind but not to offend i just smile and oh ghost i cant memorize em, surely after leaving the video i surely forgot it all what do we call the group of geese thats funny

You compared both Wild Duck and Geese, what about the other Domestic.
@battlefoxx2 жыл бұрын
Yikes. Sometimes there is so much crossbreeding and inbreeding of domestic, nonmigrating ducks and geest in the community parks they all look rather mangled and the same. But, would be a good video....Thanks for watching!

You're definitely wrong on the weights, I've shot 13 pound Canada Geese, 8 pounds plucked and dressed maybe. Same with a mallard, a big mallard can push 6 pounds, closer to 4 dressed.

Wow thanks. Maybe I was just working off of the averages. Congratulations on your huge Geese.
