Duel DIY Spiral STAIRCASE INSTALL in our BARNDOMINIUM Build

We installed 2 spiral staircases to our loft bedrooms in the Barndominium. These were the economical DIY model by Paragon Stairs which are meant for small spaces, especially with this 3 foot 6 inch diameter version. They were fairly easy to install and they look great. They work better than expected and we have no problem getting up and down them. A perfect solution for small spaces.

So I was just sitting here thinking I need to see if there is a KZfaq video on how to install my new Paragon steps I ordered for my 2 lofts in my Barndominium and bam! here it is almost exactly like I have mine...our place is an actual horse barn with living quarters though, the other half is actually a barn with stalls.... awesome video, was very helpful. Thank you!

i/m about to replace wood deck straight stairs with these from paragon stairs. My current wood platform is 36 inches wide, not 24 as in your video. I may have to see if theere is a wider option. Excellent DIY!!

Not sure if it matters for your build, but the 42” spiral staircases don’t meet code for access to a living place such as a bedroom loft. Just something to consider for folks who may watch this in the future. Obviously local codes differ, but in general, a staircase that leads to a living space such as a bedroom has specific rules regulating its width exc.

That's the standard rise for spiral staircases.

Not sure if I missed it or not, but what model stair was this? I have a garage loft where the floor of the left is at 10' and wanted to get an inexpensive stair case. And for approx $1000.00, thats right where I want to be.

Could you tell me the diameter of the stairs with the handrails? I know it's the 42 inch one but I need to know how much more space would I need to get away with using it. Thanks in advance.

The diameter is 42”. I am installing the 60” version as we speak and it is right at 60” wide total. So, you could get away with 43”x43” niche, although I would go a little bigger for easy of maneuverability.

Hi, im thinking about puttin a spiral stair aswell 3 foot 6inches are like 1 meter in diameter, is it easy to use? I am think about a spiral stair with a diameter of 140cm ~ 4 foot 7 inches but its between 3 walls what is ur opinion bout it after using spiral stairs for over 2 years

Getting up and down is not a problem, but I would go as big as you can because it is difficult to carry items up them, such as suit cases and laundry baskets.

$900 each, plus tax and freight. Freight was $450 to get it delivered.

Is this 36” or 42”? The description says 36” but multiple comments mention that its 42” im just trying to get an idea of how each one looks.

Ah, you didn’t show where the very long pole was in the packing!? Was it within the packing box? Did you have to have that made? Was it packed separately? I mean, come on, that was the biggest question about this whole set-up. It was suspicious why that fact (the pole) was completely left out of the unpacking situation.

The poles were delivered as they are, but with a shipping label stuck to it. The total shipment was 4 pieces: 2 crates with all the parts (1 per staircase) and two poles. I didn't think of talking about the poles. My miss. Thanks for watching.

Why not just do 1 and a catwalk? The amount of space you’re taking up you might as well do regular stair

We though about a catwalk, but there is no real reason to need to get between the two lofts. We also really do n not have room in our design/layout for a full stair case... and these spiral stair cases look way cooler. We also have a wood stove now in between the two spiral stair cases and the whole design and aesthetics of it look great. We are super happy with how it turned out and how it all looks.
