saw this Duff beer at the local Lidl here in Germany today. if i hadn't seen your review i would have just passed by. price was down from 79 cents to 59 cents (about 50 p) for a can, so i bought some for the weekend. thanks for your good review and cheers! 🍺

I tried this a few years back while touring Cornwall, Purchased in Lidl, Great beer. Never seen it again, will have to look in my local Isle of wight Lidl.

If I had seen a can of Duff lager I would have imagined it to be something like Brooklyn or Brewdog, nothing like German quality. Good review, ta.

It's made by the Fizz brewery in Germany. I've never bought this because I thought it would be rubbish but after your review I certainly will. Cheers mate.

Fun Fact: Pawtucket Patriot (from Family Guy) is the same beer as Duff, but only with a different sticker. There was an episode in Family Guy when they went to court. 🙂

I've bought & drank this for yonks & have always been slightly mystified by the marketing. By aiming at a novelty crowd I personally think it's rather undersold. If it came in a more convincing can then I'm pretty sure people would lap it up - it's a 7/10 all day every day. That said - I'm happy to keep it a secret though

Bought some in the UK last weekend when the sun was out. I only bought 2 cans to try it and bloody hell.....cracking beer!!!! I hope its in stock this weekend as I would like a fair few more, really hits the spot......better than wattery uk beers!!!

Here in Cyprus one of our supermarket chains sells a range of Eichbaum beer, a lager, pils, helles and a dark lager, all pretty decent and are cheap, about 70-80c a tin. Eichbaum beer in Germany is called corpse water because there's a graveyard near the brewery and the water source runs under the graveyard. Apparently because of the clay soil the water is isolated from the graveyard. It tastes pretty good anyway 😃

They used to sell Eichbaum in the Everyman Theatre Bar in Liverpool in the late 1980s. It was an absolutely cracking 5% German lager brewed according to the German beer purity law. It was a lot better than a 7/10 back then.

It's only available occasionally, so may be worth stocking up now. I do the same with the Lidl Radler - I buy 20 at a time & they last a few months

I had very low expectations and just wanted it for the can. I loved it. In Caerphilly Lidl it was in the “last chance” section. Hope they have it again.

I've always avoided this because I assumed it was more about the labelling than the contents. I think there are still some cans left at my local Lidl, I'll pick one up.

It’s not a bad drop at all and for £1.25 up here just outside Glasgow it’s downright outstanding. Maybe a tad less body than a krombacher or furtstenberg but you know your drinking German brewed lager right away.

Picked one up from a LIDL in Sutton (1.29 GBP). Duff by name but the lettering is similar to that of Seinfeld. Bought it after your review. It's not bad.

Tried Duff a few years ago and thought it was a great lager probably hampered by the novelty value packaging. That said, a more recent purchase of Duff gave me some unexpected after effects which has put me off. I still have 2x cans left!!

I see three versions, this onen for lidl by Privatbrauerei Eichbaum. 2 with the simpsons brand. One of the simpson branded duff is brewed by Eschweger Klosterbräu, while one is brewed for Universal Studios in the US by Carib Brewery.

I buy this whenever Lidl have it in stock. It's a decent German beer at a vcheap price (£1.29 at the moment, was 89p three or four years ago☹).

When it is in Lidil I always buy this because it’s a larger at 4.9ABV but can’t understand why they charge different prices usually get mine for £1.29 a can.

I must have had this at some point years ago but will pick it up again. However, how can this only be a 7/10 when the Brewdog lucky break got a 6/10? Sometimes Simon, your ratings seem a bit of an after thought.

I always buy some when I see it. For me it's the best cheapest beer. The quality exceeds the price. The name and the look of the can can make you underestimate it, but when you try it you see it's a good beer.

@@tobyjackman3212 Probably not given that most German lager tastes similar. I could make out the difference between a pilsner and a helles but not by brand. But I can say with confidence that when I tried it it didn't impress me and that I wont be buying it any time soon. This is a bit of a gimmick beer.

£1,60 ! When I first got it in lidl last October it was 99p a can 😮 but found it tasted pretty poor so increase in price might have increased the quality a bit.

It's the same. I've drank quite a lot of it of the last 5 years and although I enjoy it you do get the odd can or two with a sulphur/farty aroma to it. Maybe that what you experienced?
