(im told, by a few people who worked on her show back then, that she had to tell them, after the show, what she almost said at least 2x) joan had a genuine sense of humor and whit about her, is it strange that in many videos of her, i have wanted to give her a hug threw time? she didnt take crap and, could dish it out when provoked... :D

she had a sense of humor, and, im told by people who worked with her on the show, often she had a hard time not saying stuff that was NOT acceptable on tv... smart ass with a quick mind.. and genuine sense of humor... watch spaceballs, and if you can find where they talk about her role, a large amount of her work was adlib(what we saw that is), one of the roles as a child, that made me know who she was and gain some affection for her... why is it we have to lose people like jone, dave, john, people whos content actually brightens our lives, rather then politicians or some people whos deaths wouldnt make the world in general, a better place, rather then worse... (i hate to say it, but honestly, some of the people in power in our world...make me sad to be human... and no, its not RvsD for me.... its oligarch lizard people, vs.....the majority of humanity... hitch hikers guide explains what i mean if you wonder..just search youtube for "hitchhikers guide voting for lizards" that should cover it ;)

I love how Joan does seem to get the sense of humor of GWAR, unlike many other talk show hosts back then who would've demonized them and had pannelists demonizing them and crowds dooing the same, everyone seems to get it, alot of laughing. that's good. Rest in pieces Mighty Oderus!

This was great. I like how Joan Rivers picked up the parodic place these guys were coming from in about 15 seconds and abandoned "script" (that this was to be a piece on shock rock and its impact on young people, etc.). She was no dummy and Dave Brockie (RIP) had great comic timing throughout.

I based that off his quip about Dio where he said that very thing in an interview (though different age of course). He is great here cause both he and Joan had a similar sense of humor. Maybe not in the same way, but both were in the no filter and never taking themselves seriously style. I think they compliment each other in that regard.

mochoshakakhan I was there for the Viking funeral for Oderus at ye Year B Q that year. In was really emotional but yet the good kind of emotional. There was even the Valkyrie played by the always beautiful Slymenstra Hymen. Oderus definitely heard all of us that day.

I absolutely love this. It starts out with Joan using them as an example of music being a bad influence. In 5 minutes she finally understands the humor and what these guys are doing, does a 180 and invites them back anytime. Dave Brockie had a fast wit, he was able to take a question from Joan and immediately hit her with a funny answer. The ‘razor sharp wit’ and ‘Cleveland’ lines were hilarious!
