Dumb Things People Say About Turbos, Please Stop lol.

First and foremost - nothing but love for everyone out there trying their best and learning everyday. I have yet to meet anyone who was just born a master of the universe. I pride myself on being an idiot savant when it comes to turbo, but even I am still learning.
This video is just a collection of the misconceptions everyone tells me every day of my life when they are having an issue with their turbo. I know I don't know it all, but there is nothing worse then someone calling for your help, then having them tell you you're wrong lol. Please enjoy.

Thank you! Easy video for me to send people when they talk about blown seals. Def a big peeve of mine. Usually inadequate oil drain or too much oil feed causing smoke. I'd also add that compressor surge does not stop the shaft or spin it backwards.

The surge comment is a good one, I wish I touched on that; maybe I'll make a part 2. I forgot to talk about shaft play too. Now that I think about it... I'm making a part 2 lol

@@momentumworx Hahaha yes OMG shaft play! I have covered a lot of these myths in videos I have yet to edit as well, but there can never be enough turbo myth busting vids honesty.

It's not a piston ring. It's a cast iron sealing ring. You could say, "it's similar to a piston ring".

I got a isx turbo from you guys few years ago and everyone tells me that it will never fit that truck but i seen a different truck with that turbo on same Cummins

2:26 during compressor surge at high load your turbo's rotating assembly can experience all kinds of fun forces resulting in that nut loosening... among other things.

Yes - but it if you're experiencing turbo surge, you are likely operating your turbo outside of its compressor map. So yes, I agree - incorrectly using an item can cause damage/failure

@@DriftNick The turbo's shaft/compressor wheel/turbine can spin backward, then forward, then backward again, then forward again... couple hundred times a second... think about it

@@fry.master That does not happen though, not even possible that it could happen, not only does it not stop but it doesn't even slow it down.
