I used it for a month liked it, and then they wanted me to pay to continue. I appreciate that it wasn’t an auto renewal fee. I did not renew it. I already had chamberlain app for the past 8 years on my phone.

I had the Homelink installed and it works very well BUT at least on my garage door the car can NOT tell if the door is up or down for the auto-open/auto-close feature. Rather it just blindly sends a signal to the garage door (ie if the garage door is open then the signal will close it). so I was worried about kids playing or wife walking in the garage and the door is open and I drive home and it signals to garage which ends up closing it and hits somebody/something so I turned the auto features off and manually do it when I come around back (rear facing garage). I hope that makes sense but it isn’t smart enough to tell if the door is up or down. So what you have is great for that! Keep up the great and helpful videos!

Looked into that. Our Rav4 has a classic non-HyQ Genie type capability that can be copied from a fob, thus avoiding additional expense. It works with my 45 year old opener. Options for my 2022 Y include installing the separately purchased conventional device in the car, going the HyQ route, with all sort of newish or not yet settled standards and significant cost, Or clamping a $10 eBay-purchased fob to my driver's door pocket, compatible with the RAV and all our other openers. It should be clear what I did.

Tailwind iQ3 is far better. Throw a vehicle puck in each tesla at the bottom of a cupholder. Know who/when/and the specific garage door being opened or closed based on the user assigned to the puck or pressing buttons in the app.

Was a great addition to our 2022 RWD Model 3. Enjoyed it but wasn’t thinking we need it for our used 2023 Model X Plaid we just bought. Couldn’t get the HomeLink® to work (our model garage door maybe 🤔) so MyQ® it is! Love it in both cars. I subscribed but you’re right, I don’t remember seeing the charge on our credit card. Great video!!

It does work really well. Note that there is an occasional error that requires you to manually open or close the door from the Tesla screen. Not sure why but its maybe once a month? So just to be safe when leaving I do not drive away until the door is closed. I was not aware that it would operate the door when away from home so thanks for that tip!

Yeah occasionally it does that. Easy enough to check on your phone and remotely close it from anywhere as well. It’s a great system.

and lately some reason the myq is disconnect on my 3 and i have to scan the QR code and reset...man!

some reason..my myq works great usually when i arrive...but when i leave most of the time it doesn't auto close...so i still have to push button on my remote when leaving...sucks

I love the content on your videos . . . but in this case: Nah. No thanks. I could use the manual button on my garage door opener for 5 years and not spend as much time as you do setting it up and fretting over whether you want it open or want it closed, or how far off you want it to do something. Good lord! As it is, I hesitate when walking away from the car to make sure it locks . . . and if my wife and I are in it together, that means we both have to have our phones with us. No big deal on that . . . and I GET it. Paying for something so I don't have to PRESS A BUTTON? You gotta be kidding! I think needing to go to the screen to open the glovebox--wow! what a chore that used to be LEANING OVER TO PUSH THE GLOVEBOX BUTTON! But. To CLOSE the damned thing, you have to LEAN OVER AND PUSH THE GLOVEBOX DOOR CLOSED. This makes sense? (Full disclosure: I love both of our Teslas, quirks aside).

I bought this last fall and thought it was pretty nifty. But when it came time to renew and get charged I said no thanks. They don't charge for the MyQ app on our phones to open/close the doors, so I thought it was outrageous to charge for it on my Tesla. The other issue was that there was a significant delay when closing as I left, and my driveway has a 90 degree turn and downhill, and I can't see the door once I turn (esp. with leaves on the trees blocking the view). So I had to sit at the turn and wait to make sure the door actually started closing and finished. (BTW, we have a 2-door garage and the phone app works really nice with 2 units labeled with my name and my wife's name so we know which is which.)

I noticed you didnt show MyQ shutting as you left and I know why. If MyQ doesnt get a good GPS lock before you close the garage it will make the garage door beep for 10 to 15secs. If you pull out and wait a 10 to 15 secs for the MyQ to get a GPS lock, then it will instantly shut. For that reason specifically I went back to HomeLink. (The GPS Lock tells MyQ that your in your tesla and not using the app on your phone and that's how it decides if it needs to do the 10-15 second beeps. I went round and round with MyQ support for them to finally tell me that. After testing it, that appears to be correct. Wrong at 6:15 IT's mobile service to have the Homelink installed. You dont have to go into a service center unless your out of their service range.

Having to pay a subscription for it is insane. Buying the hardware should be enough. I did the month trial with MyQ and stopped, like 95% of others. I don't know how they thought a subscription for a garage door opener was a good idea.

It provides a convenient service for $3.75 a month. I spent more per day on coffee and that just turns to pee!

@@TeslaTipsTrips 3.75 per month so you don't have to press a button. Spend 400 bucks on installing the opener and then get nickle & dimed every month forever on-top of that. It's insane. Worst idea for a subscription of all time. They're getting rightly roasted all over Reddit for it. It doesn't even work with Siri or Google assistant in 2024. I'll take the coffee instead.
