My rebound lasted over a year and we still made a real connection but I still understood and recognized it was a rebound. Me and my ex were childhood sweethearts on and off for 19yrs but it's bec we were too young back then so this last time we got back we moved in together with her only son. We were happy and of course the road is not always smooth and so our rel became toxic but we know we really loved each other and I never cheated, they were always my priority and I did everything to provide and make her happy. 3mos ago her son (15yrs old) died then after more than a month she broke up with me. My ex and I had a 4 year relationship minus one year I had broken up with him. He is bipolar and started taking medication that seemed to be helping him when we got back together in the fall of 2020. Things seemed to be going well until we went on vacation last July to visit my family in California. His old behaviors of being short with me and verbally abusive returned. After the vacation he admitted he was not taking his meds like before and the rest of the summer was really good or so I thought. In august he started a new treatment and seemed to slip back into angry manic behavior. One day he broke up with me out of the blue and a week like put a profile in tinder. I found out and I confronted him and he said he is the “new me” referring to himself and he thought the healthy thing to do was get into a new relationship right away with someone he really wanted to be with. Up until this point I thought he has wanted to be with me. He had always said he loved me and we had talked about moving in together. During our fight which lead to our break up he told me I had gotten old. I am 13 years older, he is 37 and I just turned 50. Since he never wanted kids and he had been the one to pursue me I didn’t know it was an issue. He had kept reaching out until my birthday which was a month after the breakup but the things he was saying were so hurtful I asked him not to reach out anymore. I found out recently he has a new girlfriend he met online 4 weeks after our breakup. She’s 26 and 11 years younger. I was so hurt that not only he could move on so quickly but with someone a decade younger after he said my age was an issue. I found it incredibly hypocritical. I haven’t spoken to him in over a month and I don’t think we will get back together but I’m hurt he moved on so fast with someone so young and I can’t help but wonder if this is real with her or a rebound.
