Shannon don't feel bad if you keep stuff for yourself. You deserve to keep things for you and Beth and your family. I know you love to donate and help people out in need but sometimes you might need something. After all the money you use on gas and the wear and tear on you car . That is just ridiculous on the amount of stuff they tossed in the bin. If it was me apart of me would of been thinking I will go home and empty the car and go get more as in my head I would be thinking of how many people would enjoy the stuff. Great work Shannon.

I’ve gotten stuck before…it took me about 30 mins to finally get my leg over the edge to pull myself out…this is why I always park my vehicle in front of the dumpster because in the case I can’t get out..my vehicle will protect me if the trash truck comes along..and if it’s sitting there long enough it will cause someone to get curious why and yeah…I’m not very tall so yeah…this is a common issue with a lot of things lol…safety first…and idc what people think lol..they don’t have to live on a single persons budget like alot of us do

I love, Love, LOVE it! It's a HUGE shame what it tossed in dumpsters. I cheer for everyone who "rescues"perfectly good stuff from them. And YES, GIRL! KEEP a few things. It will build up. I was briefly homeless and a nearby church gave us expired groceries every few days. I didn't ask where they got it, I said THANK YOU and ate. Not one piece was spoiled. I've always loved thrift/yard sale shopping anyway, because the value of things is in the perspective of the buyer. Homed and housed now, but I love seeing people able to gather and share.

Girl those gift sets are truly a blessing. I scored about three of them when I did a dumpster dive run at Walgreens in North Carolina you should treat yourself to one of them has body wash that smells amazing body butter dry shampoo and something else awesome score!!!!

Those big metal popcorn bins with lids are great to store dry nonperishables for emergencies. I keep rice, powder milk. elbow macaroni, salt, sugar, coffee and other supplies. They are mostly rodent-proof, unlike plastic storage bins.

Shannon, You need to find another place to work. This is the third(?) time whoever owns that bar has screwed over the staff. They are unreliable and weird in how they conduct their business. If I were you I'd get out and find another business that has a reliable and responsible business owner with constant hours and days that employees work.

@@dumpsterdivingmommaof2 Exactly Shannon. $30 for one night's work is really nothing with the cost of everything lately. The owner is really NOT paying you. I know you like your co-workers BUT your first obligation is to your family. I'm not trying to sound harsh to you but you just cannot work for free! Sometimes liquor licenses can be hard to come by for a new owner. Where I live (college town in the south) all the bars in the downtown area who have liquor licenses hold on to them and follow all the rules (under age drinkers, hours the bar can operate, inspections etc.) because IF they don't and they loose their liquor license it won't be re-issued. The city is strict on the bars and the owners to try and keep everyone safe.

Can't believe that so much good quality stuff ended up in the dumpster - brands like Hallmark, Soap & Glory, Yankee Candles etc retail for top whack! So glad you were able to save so much to donate. You shouldn't feel bad about keeping anything for yourself though, as what you take is a tiny percentage (probably 1% or less) of everything you rescue over the year. Remember that you and Beth make so many people happy with all your donations and no-one has the right to criticise or judge you.

Shannon, this is the answer to your pay packet problem. Get and sell online. You always donate most of what you get do use some of this, make a few trips back to this dumpster to tie you over to be able to go diving. It makes perfect sense.

You really shouldn't feel any guilt about keeping anything. You're the one in and out of these dumpsters. I'm glad you found someone you like and need.
