It's a beautifully wet day, and there's so much to find! Some good ol fashioned dumpster diving is always a great way to spend a day, and we had a great run with not only a decent haul of scrap metal finds but more treasures to add to the stash! There's plenty to be found if you just know what to look for!

Idk if it’s worth throwing on Facebook for a few bucks but that small black plastic box you got towards the start is a battery box of an electric boat motor.

One of the scrap yards that l use classifies light ballasts as electric motors=95c a kg. Better than 20c kg as tin shred. 🇦🇺

Transmission casing and gears are usually cast aluminium .. motor is alu/irony or standing mekted in the stove gl Sir!

Awhile back took apart some pretty old washer n dryers. They had alum motors but i had time to kill and had to be out there to monitor something anyway. Also that black box is a battery box

When i moved into my house i kept finding rebar. I have a saw that cuts it so I use it for spikes in flower beds.

@thubprint my pleasure, I truly look forward to your content every week (seriously no pressure)❤ But your informative mantra of "scrap is the lowest/last value" somehow hit hard enough this time to make it into my thick head lol. A couple of the things I picked up from free piles this weekend I'm planning to make the effort to list and see if I can sell them via fb marketplace. This got me thinking on a contrnt idea for you. I love how you and several similar creators do vids with the theme "is it worth it" scrapping various appliances and electronics down to their baser bits. But how cool would it be to do is it worth keeping to resell. Keeping track (as I'm sure you already do) of what you pick up, and was it free? How much effort did it take to test its functionality? If needed what did it take to fix it? How much did it sell for? And probably most importantly, How long did it sit on your "inventory"? Video clips of each answer smooshed together could be good for the "shorts" feature of your channel. And then as your data accumulates you could do feature episodes where you look at averages of similar items ❤❤ and make broader statements of "is it worth it?" In relation to what to keep and resell vs tin shred vs full tare downs🥰🥰🤘🤘🔥🔥

Between the rod you mention and the bolts that hold the tank to the bowland the ones that secure the bowl to the flange there's maybe 40 cents in brass, unless it's a real old john, it's just not worth it!

Depending on what your time is worth. It's maybe 1 lb of aluminum and 10-15 mins of work for 40 cents more to scrap it out. Yes going that far, add a few more minutes you can pull half a pound or so of #2 wire, the small piece of sheet aluminum behind the knobs and the cast aluminum case of the motor and bits of brass microscrapping to gain $2-3 each washer over tossing it whole. You could probably do maybe 3 in an hour so if you have the time and space and don't mind making $7-9/hr for the effort go ahead

Do you ever get in trouble with other scrappers? Like here in the Netherlands this is a good way to loose your teeth. Criminal gangs will claim every site.
