Just watched Dune 2 and man it was absolutely incredible, one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The cinematography was so good, the entire movie and set pieces were all beautifully shot, the story, action, epic Hans Zimmer soundtrack, everything was top notch. Denis Villeneuve truly one of the best directors today. The cast was great, Timothée Chalamet gave the performance of a lifetime and stole the show as Paul Atreides. A truly worthy sequel. So excited for Part 3.

The first three movies are major classics with brilliant cinematography and yet none of those three movies are in my top 360 favorite movies and so I can say Denis Villeneuve made an amazing movie of a book I read as an elementary child and did it well. The fourth one I have never heard of, but I can see the relation. I suppose the best way to describe "Dune: part 2" is to say it was like watching "Rob Roy" on steriods and set in a fantasy or science fiction world, but still not as good a movie as the original, but only turn Luke Skywalker (Rob Roy) into Anakin Skywalker (the Mahdi of Islam). 156) Rob Roy (1995) 164) Dune: part 2 (2024) "Dune: part 2" is worth seeing. Denis Villeneuve stayed true to the book enough, in the sense characters can see it all happening as good or bad or good and bad and yet you as the viewer or reader can make up your own mind too. In other words, do you see this hero as worth it or not worth it. It's up to you. I was surprised Denis Villeneuve in "Dune: part 1" had the Fremen call Paul the Mahdi, as that was a dead give away that this whole thing is an Islamic end times vision. Frank Herbert did not come out and say it, but while I read "Dune" as a kid I knew the whole things smelled of T. E. Lawrence of Arabia joining the Muslims in World War One to be a leader figure of the desert only this was more Anti-Christ type vision of the future. I think in that sense it stays true to what Frank Herbert said, "I am showing you the superhero syndrome and your own participation in it." - Frank Herbert, speaking about "Dune." Now I see it from Zendaya's perspective; hence, I love the ending as completely open ended as to whether they achieve or don't achieve, but that many are for it as the dye is cast and some are disbelievers of it seeing the conflict is not over nor is any success guaranteed. In that sense it was brilliant, but it didn't crack my top 100 favorites movies list. "A Princess of Mars" by writer Edgar Rice Burroughs inspired many things along with the movie adaptation of the book called "John Carter" in 2012 by Disney, such as: Star Wars, Avatar, Indiana Jones, Superman, Dune, and writer Ray Douglas Bradbury with "The Martian Chronicles," which I read as a child. Here is where such things fall on my favorite movies list: 20) Star Wars: the Empire Strikes Back (1980) 21) Star Wars: a New Hope (1977) 41) Superman II (1980) 112) John Carter (2012) 121) Avatar (2009) 125) Man of Steel (2013) 148) Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983) 164) Dune: part 2 (2024) 270) Dune: part 1 (2021) The main reason for me to watch Dune 2 is to see whether Zendaya Coleman surpasses female actresses I loved in the past, which I don't believe she has yet. And to see if the vision of the Mahdi in his ascension can be depicted well. Denis Villeneuve delivered. I suppose movie three will be can Islam rule well? I doubt it in reality, or for depiction in the next movie, and I doubt the 3rd movie would surpass the 2nd. Zendaya is in my top 13 favorite actors based on the list below. She is certainly doing well for her career and I'm happy for her in that sense. 10) Spiderman: No Way Home (2021) 96) The Greatest Showman (2017) 164) Dune: part 2 (2024) 191) Spiderman: Far from Home (2019) 198) Spiderman: Homecoming (2017) 270) Dune: part 1 (2021) “I loved you, so I drew these tides of men into my hands And wrote my will across the Sky and stars To earn you freedom, the seven Pillared worthy house, That your eyes might be Shining for me When we came Death seemed my servant on the Road, 'til we were near And saw you waiting: When you smiled and in sorrowful Envy he outran me And took you apart: Into his quietness Love, the way-weary, groped to your body, Our brief wage Ours for the moment Before Earth's soft hand explored your shape And the blind Worms grew fat upon Your substance Men prayed me that I set our work, The inviolate house, As a memory of you But for fit monument I shattered it, Unfinished: and now The little things creep out to patch Themselves hovels In the marred shadow Of your gift.” ― T. E. Lawrence, "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom" Sting and the whole David Lynch "Dune" of the 80s was insane. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l6t-i5SEy5nKl4U.html

@@Fentiman CAN ANYONE TELL ME SOME ASPECT OF WHAT ANTI-CHRIST DOES THAT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA HAS NOT YET FULFILLED??? The Anti-Christ absolutely must fulfill all Anti-Christ things before being identified at the top of Mt. Zion per Isaiah 14. We will squint our eyes and say, "This the man who shakes the whole world? He shook merely the region of the first." per Isaiah 14:16. None shall break rank when Palestine is whole per Isaiah 14:28-31 for Ahaz means "he has grasp the ten" and they shall reign with him for one literal hour. Barack Hussein Obama denied the desire of women by not having the cheating machine work for Hillary, but the super delegates all voted for her before a Democratic person could vote in the primary, so she thought all good. The cheating machine did work for Joe Biden, six states frozen in the general election and nobody checking over a black woman's shoulder during the recount so even that was utterly suspect, so we live in the end of an image of his time with his VP and Joe Biden is so shady in his business dealing that he is in the pocket of someone. He came in with a Nobel Peace Prize. With WikiLeaks and an Arab Apology Tour, he turned the key to a bottomless pit and that's why and Arab Spring. We will squint our eyes at him saying "this the man that shook the whole world? He shook merely the region of the first (Middle East)" according to Isaiah 14 which ends with Palestine whole as we recognize him at the top of Mt. Zion. Yet during the Arab Spring we lost three kings in one month in Egypt, Libya, and Tunesia, which is Anti-Christ identification type stuff. We've had two times of him and he was ruined to prosper as with Trump when he had a cut off time the level of hatred and violence went up. Now in this image of his time Russia and Islam have grown in strength because the first two things Joe Biden did was cut us off from oil and open the lower border. The second beast from a false prophet (Muhammed) give their power unto an image of a beast. They have been burning down churches in Europe ever since flooding in there and they have been flooding into America too. CAN ANYONE TELL ME SOME ASPECT OF WHAT ANTI-CHRIST DOES THAT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA HAS NOT YET FULFILLED??? "Barack" or "baraq" when no English letters existed meant "lightening" in ancient Hebrew and that term "Barack" is associated with end times, last days, of great tribulation in over 23 places in our Holy Bible. I don't think Putin and Xi will want to prostrate five times a day for seven years towards Barack Hussein Obama.

21:13 Villeneuve (about the ending of Dune II): "I try to be faithful to the book and the book ends this way with the beginning of a nightmare. Everything that Paul was trying to avoid during the two movies finally [is realized] ... So it is a tragic ending, a powerful ending, but the book had that powerful ending and I tried to respect it. And now *I made sure that I will be closer to Herbert's intentions* ... and to have a critical view of what's happening and it opened the door to Dune Messiah that will be the third chapter of that story." Just the same as Jackson with LotR. So Dune novel purists who are spouting hate about Villeneuve's two masterpieces have, like the LotR novel purists, got hold of the wrong end of the tiger. Villeneuve has preserved the intention of the original source material. And in years to come when Villeneuve's three Dune films will be held in the very highest of cinematic and artistic esteem, and as happened to the Tolkien novel purists, no-one will remember your objections.

I would argue that Javier Barden (Stilgar) and Rebeca Ferguson (The Lady Jessica) are highlighted in Dune Part 2: the adoration of Muadib and the machinations of religious belief are all encapsulated in these characters. Their performances are so rich, they build the momentum for the script of Dune: Messiah, the story of the anti-hero. The pain of achieving power and the dangers of charismatic leadership and autocracy. How powerful a lesson for our world today. What an epic film; what an epic story penned lo and behold in 1965.

So fortunate to have seen a 70mm print of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA at the Uptown Theater in DC a billion years ago, and that's exactly what I compared the experience of seeing DUNE 2 in IMAX to, Villeneuve is an absolute master, he simply has no modern equal behind the camera. He has singlehandedly saved filmmaking, I'm PRAYING for DUNE 3. Lisan al Gaib!!!

Zeroing in on the romance between Paul and Chani is an interesting decision. Not sure I agree with it because I think Dune is so thematically rich beyond that relationship, but it is bold as an adaptation decision.

I haven't seen pt.2..i haven't even watched this video yet, but I can't wait to see what this "he's the best" shit ur talking is about. Because the 1st movie only jerks off on the fact that they have better efx to work with than David Lynch had. But they forgot to use it to make a better movie than Lynch made. So far what I'm hearing about this 2nd movie is beautiful efx and Muslims in space 😂

Wonderful, open, honest discussion of variety of types of visual influences before making Dune. Please - Mr. Villeneuve's film version of Dune saga MUST INCLUDE SPACING GUILD CHARACTERS and SCENES. The make sense and give audience/readers of the story background that links Butlerian Jihad story and the necessity for Mentat characters and Spacing Guild characters, and of natural course of the source material, meaning for transformation of humans, especially Paul Atraides. I actually hope that the missing characters of the Guild from the interstellar transport of the war ships of the Harkonnens return to Arrakis/Dune would improve or Complete Villeneuve's Dune 2. No? (I apologize for my poor memory, leading me to claim the Guild characters had been omitted from Dune and Dune 2, on other movie comment sections. I'm working without owning any reference copies of the Dune film.)
