How can you not HATE John Taylor...he's 61 and still has all his hair and looks great. hahaha I LOVED Duran Duran as a teen in the 80s. My 8yo daughter just asked me today "What did men's hair look like when you were a kid back in the 90s"...I corrected her that it was actually the 80s...and I instantly took her straight to a video of REFLEX... "Sweety, that's men's hair in the 80s!" .... btw, Mr Taylor, if you see this, I was JOKING about hating you, but losing my hair when I was about 20 yrs old does make me jealous of you guys! :-)
@RetroReminiscing3 жыл бұрын
lol yeah, the reflex video was a prime and perfect example for mens hair in the 80's..... as for John , i think he's the man that ever man would like to be at that age (or any age lol)(and definitley like to have his hair line ) ha ha , and every woman wouldnt say no to

@resa.walters3 жыл бұрын
Maybe you have, b/c they probably wouldnt be listening to as much as a fan would if ever they had a bit of free time. Too much other stuff that is probably on that back burner to get through. As well as a plethora of new music to get to. BTW guys, you've literally enriched my life at the lower, tougher times, so... Thank you! ❤️ JT.... If you weren't married...

these guys took over my soul as a teenager in the 80's. Duran Duran is my all time favorite band. Up there with the Beatles, U2, Tom Petty... I was raised on a farm in a small town in nowhere America in a small state. We never had concerts or bands in our town, and I worked jobs in high school and worked my way though college, so I never had a chance to travel to larger cities to see bands when they came to larger states and cities within a few hours drive. But I finally saw Duran Duran in 1997 (or was it 98?) Tampa Florida during the Electric Barbarella tour. I was 2nd row, stage left, right in front of Nick. They were better live than recorded. These guys are the best and I'm so glad you are still rocking... When the hell will they be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!??? They should have been there years ago! Thanks for being such a great part of my life guys. I can't wait to see your next works of art. UPDATE!!!!! THEY MADE IT! ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME BABY!!! Plus, I'm seeing them again this August in the DFW area! Can't wait!

Totally love this. Huge respect for Nick and John. I can relate a lot to Nick in terms of sound sculpting he talks about to not getting tattoos at all. John is fantastic as usual. What draws me to these guys and Duran Duran in general is their child -like spirit, they are still in love with music and music culture and curious about the world and what is in store for tomorrow. It is this optimism that runs through DD's aesthetic and why they have lasted through all the incredible ups and terrible lows. It is a story of survival more than anything.
@hazelle42852 жыл бұрын
Even though I wasn't born in the 80s, my parents were from the 80s but they didn't listen to Duran Duran since my parents were still in Vietnam back then. Also, my parents didn't have a radio to listen to music but has heard of some singers. I'm still in high school and I'm obsessed with Duran Duran. My favourite is John Taylor because mostly, I'm attracted to men with beautiful hair but my older brother teased me about obsessing over Duran Duran.
@sruffer76382 жыл бұрын
I can highly relate to this. My parents were a bit old to listen to Duran in the 80s, plus they weren't very musically-oriented people so they didn't pay much attention to the radio. I'm also a high schooler who's massively in love with this band and honestly, I'm very disappointed in my parents for passing up the opportunity to know them back in the day. Now, my dad teases me for liking them 😂 it's nice to see other people our age keeping the Duran legacy alive.

Did they play the unplugged version of Save a Prayer with John playing an acoustic guitar? I saw a video and I think it's from that presentation and loved it.
@liammccann87633 жыл бұрын
@@JTforeverL I'm afraid I cannot remember if they played the acoustic version. One of my lasting memories was the brass section, especially on tracks like skin trade. The same week they played Belfast, they played the last ever edition of a UK show called 'The Tube' and it is available on KZfaq. I hope it's OK to share an anecdote about the Belfast show. A friend of my sister also went to that show. Her father drove her from Derry, which is 80 miles away, and he waited for her until the show was over. He decided to take a stroll around the perimeter of the King's Hall, without realising the show was just coming to a close. At the side of the building a door opened and some gentlemen emerged and he casually said hello and asked if he could go in and meet his daughter. The gentlemen held the door open for him and gave him directions to the auditorium. The Friday of that week he and his daughter watched Duran's performance on The Tube and he quipped that that was the guys he was chatting to!

I had thr privilege of seeing thrm live just a few weeks ago, in Scarborough. They were absolutely fantastic and I have to say it was perhaps the best concert I've ever been to and the best night I've ever had. Best concert because it was all about the music and they neve rmissed a beat and Simon Le Bons' voice hit every, single note with perfection. Also, it's a small venue (or feels that way) and they made it feel very intimate. Best night because 8 have spent the last 2 years coiled like a foetus in in a deep, deep depression and the crowd were ecstatic to be there, the staff were kind and the atmosphere electric and contagious. I danced all evening!!! Ive loved these guys from 14 yrs old to today and it's the first time I ever saw them live. What can I say... They brought me back to life ❤️

Gotta love how Madonna's "Justify My Love" was used as the opening theme song for this video. Haven't seen her music video for it in ~ 2 years on MTV Classic. Regarding John and Nick's virtual Q&A, I definitely have to agree with Nick about the tattoos. I don't want to be tortured with a needle to put on a tattoo, then remove it. Decades ago, retail employers didn't want to hire anyone with tattoos and piercing. If they were hired, employees had to remove all their extra body piercings and tattoos had to be covered with long clothing or some body make-up. Today everyone including their cat, dog, and baby has a tattoo with body piercings and they get hired for jobs before people like me. There are literally nurses with wrist tattoos and tramp stamps, when I go for doctor's appointments and job interviews now. When I was a teenager back in the '90s, I thought both tattoos and body piercings were cool. By the 21st Century, both became passe as John Taylor said in this video. When I say "passe," it's because Hipsters ruined both! They also ruined fashion, entertainment, as well as Goth, and Punk sub-cultures. Speaking of entertainment, politics has most definitely ruined entertainment over the last 17 years. That was partly why I quit my job in college years ago as a Radio DJ. Therefore, I can empathize with John Taylor saying that politics is really intense here in America. You can't even enjoy the taste of ice cream anymore without being patronized about politics ad nauseam.

Growing up I thought these guys were pretentious and over the top with all the make up and the fashion. But I really have a newfound interest, seeing how they have continued on for 40+ years and still sound superb (i saw them in San Jose last week). I esp love hearing these two guys and their Birmingham days. I like how they sound so down to earth and self deprecating, which Simon and Roger are like too. Much respect and admiration for these mates!
