Again.... again we were surprised big time! Tops send us the Storm vector to check out. Based on the viking Seax this knife looks cool but than the 1095 is not that exciting even though its more than decent for a chopper... but oh man did we get surprised again! What a bloody beast this storm vector is! It chopped like a dream and the heat treatment blew us away.
Check it out!

9:39 I believe they call this a child-like sense of wonder... The music...the passion...the subtitles...the perfect example of good mental health...the inside jokes...the culture of their country...I just love the beautiful nuances of DBK videos. Even when these guys are in their seventies, they will still act and behave and have the same glowing energies as they do now. So naturally human. I love the Dutch disposition. I love you guys' humor and creativity. I love y'all's authenticity. You guys should make a feature length film. I'd put in on a go-fund-me for that. I'd tell all my friends. I could watch this all day. Love and respect from Fort Worth, Texas.

Well, actually the seax was an chopping-tool, that was used in war as well, but originally it was just a tool. It was often used for many small tasks too, like cutting, cooking -or killing. In my Opinion this is the ultimate kind of bushcraft tool.

The Bowie design is better
@nihiluskarr2717
@nihiluskarr2717 2 жыл бұрын
@@justafloridamanfromthe75thRR Many Brokenback Seaxs are very close to the Bowie in blade design. The key differences are the guard, handle, tang, and the fact that the Bowie sometimes has the clip sharpened. Saying one is particularly better than another is really just a matter of personal taste since they are roughly the same kind of knife with very little difference in how the design performs. With the only real exception being thrusting. in that one regard, the Bowie is much better, but it's less to do with the blade shape, and more to do with the handle/guard design. Which, you can put a Bowie handle on a seax knife and get those same benefits, but it's also going to usually turn that seax into a Bowie by definition. That being said, most Bowie knives are made with significantly better steel than the historical Seax knives were, but the modern seax knives are made from the same stuff. So, that becomes a non-issue. As shown in this video. However, the modern idea of the Bowie knife was heavily influenced by British manufacturers. So, it's quite possible that the modern Bowie was influenced by the historical knives of England. Mainly being things like the Seax. Matt Easton of Schola Gladiatoria has done some great videos discussing the similarities, but so have many other historical arms KZfaqrs.

Gentlemen, another fine, fun and informative video! The portrayal of the Seax to the life of the Vikings and the Norse people was excellent, from a modern look to the past and I commend you for using this knife not only as a chopping tool which it was, but it was also used for cooking and taken into battle. Now whether you look at these as a big and practical knife or a small sword the fact is these were multipurpose blades designed to do a variety of tasks, which you expertly demonstrated!! Looking forward to next week, take care and stay well!!

TOPS is in my top 3 favorite knife makers. Even though 1095 is an old simple steel, it's extremely tough and incredibly easy to sharpen. I love super steels with Z-Wear PM being my fave of the supers. Mainly cause it's even tougher than CPM 3V and performs better. That said, if I'm stuck lost in a forest somewhere, I would much prefer simple carbon steels like 1095, O1, or 80crv2. Those steels are more than any adequate for any bushcraft or survival/SERE situations anyone might find themselves in... if properly HT'ed. This chopper is def going with me on every outing after it arrives at my door tomorrow! Great and honest vid guys...

I would love to see a full comparison between this and the Skrama. It seems the Skrama doesn't chop as well and I'm going to assume the 150 gram difference in weight from the extra 2.15mm thickness has a lot to do with that. The finer edge near the handle seems like it should be good for feathersticking (I don't remember the results in your Skrama video).
